Fixtures
Newcastle
Newcastle have had a very strong campaign this season. They sit comfortably amongst the top four teams in the league. They have two fixtures this week against Leeds and Brighton which makes their assets even more appealing going into the new round.
This season defensively, Newcastle rank the best for goals conceded (29) and second best for clean sheets kept. Some managers could go for the cheap enabling centre-back Sven Botman (£4.5m) or even left-back Dan Burn (£4.5m).
In terms of attack, in the last six Gameweeks they rank amongst the best four teams for goals scored (15), attempts on goal (92), shots in the box (70) and minutes per chance (6.2). Because of this and their double Gameweek, managers looking to go cheap could pick Jacob Murphy (£4.2m). The midfielder has picked up two returns in his last four league games, including a double-digit haul. Another midfield option to consider is Joe Willock (£4.7m). He has started all of Newcastle’s last four matches and returned points in two of them.
Brighton
It has been an eventful season for Brighton as they look to creep into the European spots. Although suffering a recent defeat, they have sustained some solid defensive data lately. An example of this is that in the last six Gameweeks they rank fourth best for shots on target conceded (22) and third best for big chances conceded (nine).
For those looking to invest in Brighton’s defensive assets cheaper than the likes of standout options Pervis Estupinan (£4.9m) or even Lewis Dunk (£4.8m) then goalkeeper Jason Steele (£4m) could be a great option.
Brighton have also sustained some great offensive stats this season. More recently, in the last six Gameweeks they also sit first for attempts on goal (127), first for shots in the box (87) and joint second for shots on target.
Some of the best routes into their frontline come with very cheap price-tags. One of those players is midfielder Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) who takes his sides penalties and leads his offensive teammates in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks (3.71). Another great option is Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m). The midfielder has banked a return in five of his last 10 league matches. Some could even consider Pascal Groß (£5.4m) who has bagged three returns in his last six matches, including a double-digit haul.
Carlos Vinicius
Fulham may be on the beach, as the phrase goes, but they also face a team who look set to be relegated in Southampton. The Saints have had a torrid campaign and the backline is there to target. In fact, Southampton have conceded three or more goals in four of their last six matches.
What is interesting is that Fulham have played three relegation battling teams in their last six matches and scored between two and five goals in all of them. One player who looks set to start is Carlos Vinicius (£5.4m). The striker has started the last three matches for the Cottagers and in that same period bagged 19 points.
