An early FPL preview for Gameweek 38
As the next Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek draws nearer, here is an early preview of what lies ahead.
FPL Preview
Firstly, these are the fixtures.

Strong Fixtures
TOTTENHAM
With the race for fourth place one of several issues to be decided on the final day, Spurs need to beat Norwich. Therefore, owners of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski don’t need to worry about rotation or lack of motivation. Son also has the Golden Boot to chase, where he is currently one goal behind Mohamed Salah.
CHELSEA
Facing Watford at home is a wonderful fixture, it just depends who gets game time. Third place isn’t quite secured for Thomas Tuchel’s side but they face Leicester beforehand, this coming Thursday. Judging by that night’s line-up, guesses can be made on whether Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Reece James or Marcos Alonso face the Hornets. Sending your home fans off for a nice summer with a big win is a nice thing to try and achieve.
LIVERPOOL
Although Wolves (H) isn’t rated as strong by the Fixture Ticker (below), the visitors have seemingly got their flip-flops on. Six games without a win, containing four defeats that include heavy 3-0 and 5-1 losses to Brighton and Man City. Should Jurgen Klopp’s team beat Southampton tonight, the title will go down to the final day. So all Liverpool need to do is beat Wolves and hope for good news elsewhere. The fitness of Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk is currently unknown but, nearer the deadline, we should hear whether they can participate.
Weak Fixtures
ASTON VILLA
This was always the caution needed for managers buying Danny Ings, Matty Cash, Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho for Double Gameweeks 36 and 37. Whilst there is always a chance that traditional final day drama could see Villa provide a competitive twist – see QPR at Man City in 2012 – the task for Pep Guardiola’s side is straightforward. Beat Villa and you’re the league champions. Head coach Steven Gerrard is quite famously a Liverpool man, so he’ll be desperate to stop them.
EVERTON
Meanwhile, the task isn’t quite as impossible for Everton. They’ve also just had a double-double but may see a trip to Arsenal as quite winnable. What may put off Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Jordan Pickford owners is that – depending on how Thursday’s clash with Crystal Palace goes – they could already be mathematically safe by Sunday.
