Gameweek 5 Wildcard Team

Last modified date

Gameweek 5 Wildcard Team

The wildcard has been active over the International Break, to bounce back for the Gameweek 5 wildcard team.

There’s room for improvement in the Gameweek 5 wildcard, following three consecutive red arrows and captaincy blanks.

Saturday Morning Update

I’ve finally locked in my wildcard team after playing the market. There’s just a couple of minor changes from below. – Hanley comes on as the £4.0 defensive bench fodder. – Lundstram starts this week ahead of Pieters. Team value lies at £101.7 million, including £0.1 in the bank. Good luck everyone! Gameweek 5 Wildcard

Gameweek 4 Review

Gameweek 4 brought yet more disappointment, with yet another captaincy blank. The bench was needed with Martial injured, but that didn’t yield any points. The defence performed well on the whole and Kane delivered in the North London Derby to repay the faith. Gameweek 5 Wildcard Team

Gameweek 5 Preview

Here’s how the Gameweek 5 wildcard team has taken shape. Three premium attackers was still a priority, with De Bruyne joining Salah and Sterling in midfield. A double up on Manchester City attackers was important and Kevin De Bruyne seems to be back to his brilliant best. Pukki and Barnes were the standout forwards – they have the form and fixtures. There was no budget left for another premium here.

Alexander-Arnold replaces Van Dijk to join Lucas Digne as the premium defenders. Nick Pope keeps his place between the sticks, with Stekelenburg a low ownership fodder who’s unlikely to drop in price. The third forward spot was tricky, with Haller, Abraham and King under consideration. The Frenchman got the nod with the most short-term potential. This forced a move away from a Manchester City defender: Zinchenko could become a rotation risk with Mendy back in training. Laporte’s injury could also damage their potential. Cantwell stays as the 5th midfield backup, he’s excellent value in this price bracket. It was a tough choice between James and Mount for the fourth midfield spot. The fixtures drove the decision here, and James is the pick for now. With just 4.6 for a third defender, it’s a double up on the Burnley defence. They have great fixtures and Pieters has attacking threat too. Soyuncu was on the watchlist but three of the next four fixtures are tough. Lundstram remains the best value cheap defender, he’s been in the side since Gameweek 1. The flagged Kelly joins him as the second backup defender, he’s should feature for Palace plenty in the coming weeks. Gameweek 5 Wildcard Team The team is ranked at 1,034,849 with 231 points. The other chips are still in tact. The team isn’t locked on the FPL website right now as there’s still some price rises to exploit, but above is the Gameweek 5 lineup brought to you via Fantasy Football Fix. It’s the traditional 3-4-3 formation back, with Pukki and Pieters both getting the nod over Lundstram. Hopefully that won’t be a decision that comes with regret in hindsight. Captaincy was a tough decision, with Liverpool and City having great fixtures. Perhaps excluding a third asset from both of these clubs on wildcard is a risky strategy! City has the more favourable fixture so Sterling gets the nod, but after a busy International Break and Champions League action coming up, rotation isn’t out of the question.
