Gameweek 27

It may be a blank Gameweek 27, but there’s three days of action and player picks over on Starting 11 this weekend.

Safe Spine: Arsenal (vs Southampton)

Arsenal are the Gameweek 27 safe spine, with an excellent home record against sides in the bottom half of the table. They’ve scored 12 goals and conceded just 3 over the course of their last 5 home games. Meanwhile, Southampton are without a win in 3, scoring 3 goals and conceding 4 in that spell. Gameweek 27 Spine FWD: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang MID: Henrikh Mkhitaryan DEFs: Laurent Koscielney, Sean Kolasinac Aubameyang is a bully when it comes to playing weaker teams at home, with notable hauls against Leicester, Burnley, Fulham and Cardiff. It’s been a bit of a barren spell for the Arsenal frontman though, missing out with illness last time around. Mkhitaryan has returned to the side from injury to provide the creative force: he managed a brace in the reverse fixture. Defensively, it’s just one clean sheet in 4, but Koscielney and Kolasinac provide plenty of attacking threat. Kolasinac has two assists in his last 4 games, with Koscielney scoring two goals over the same spell.

Goals Galore: Manchester United vs Liverpool

An exciting Gameweek 27 clash is set to ensue at Old Trafford on Sunday, as Jose Mourinho is no longer around to park the bus in the most high-profile fixture in English football. With 4 goals scored in the reverse fixture, it looks set to be a fascinating game. Both teams will be going all out to collect the three points. Gameweek 27 Goals FWD: Marcus Rashford, Sadio Mane MIDs: Paul Pogba, Fabinho Pogba is in incredible form, and is yet to blank at home under Solskjær. He has 4 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 games, plus is aided by penalties. Rashford could also be key in this fixture, with his clinical finishing needed: he has 3 goals from his last 4 starts. Sadio Mane is the form man from Liverpool, despite Salah stealing most headlines. The Liverpool left winger has managed goals in 4 consecutive Premier League games and is more reliable in turning up on the big occasions. Fabinho will have plenty of work to do defensively and could improve on his 1 goal and 2 assists for the season.

Clean Sheet Stack: Newcastle (vs Huddersfield)

Newcastle have kept 7 clean sheets this season, conceding just 3 goals in their last 4 games, both from a small goalkeeper error. Another clean sheet could be just around the corner in Gameweek 27, against a Huddersfield side who’ve managed just 14 goals this season, with 8 on the road in 12 games. Gameweek 27 Stack DEFs: Jamaal Lascelles, DeAndre Yedlin GKP: Martin Dubravka Dubravka has been busy making some excellent saves despite some calamitous errors in recent weeks: he has 9 saves in his last 4 games, taking him up to 77 for the season. His goal won’t be kept too busy by the Huddersfield attack. It’s stalwarts Lascelles and Yedlin that we look to for potential attacking returns to go alongside a clean sheet in the Newcastle backline. Yedlin has 1 goal and 1 assist, Lascelles has 1 assist. Both will score points for defensive actions such as tackles and interceptions.
