Last modified date

The new Premier League season is edging closer and the fantasy game is now live for managers to build their squads, check out the prices, study the fixtures and more. With this in mind, we take a look through some of the best budget players in FPL.

Drawing up a list of the best budget players in FPL can be very useful to fantasy managers. Bringing in cheap players which allows the more pricier options into our squad can be key but making sure the budget players return points can be even more beneficial.

Goalkeepers – £4.5 or less

  • Alphonse Areola (£4m) – The West Ham goalkeeper could challenge for the number role this season. At his price he could be the only playing £4m goalkeeper in the game.
  • Jason Steele (£4.5m) – Brighton maintained some of the best underling defensive data last season. For that reason, if Steele can keep his place, he could be one of the best £4.5m goalkeepers for the season ahead.
  • Jordan Pickford (£4.5m) – Everton start their campaign with fixtures against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves so Pickford has a great chance of racking up some clean sheets.

Defenders – £4m or less

  • Amari’i Bell (£4m) – Luton have some of the best fixtures to start the season with. Bell also comes in at one of the cheapest playing prices in the game.
  • Sven Botman (£4.5m) – Newcastle sustained some of the best defensive stats in the league last season. Because of this Botman could be a great season hold at his price-tag.
  • Jordan Beyer (£4m) – Beyer is another £4m playing defender and his side managed to keep 21 clean sheets in the Championship last season.

Midfielders – £5.5m or less

  • Andreas Pereira (£5.5m) – Playing in an advance attacking role behind Alexander Mitrovic could be hugely beneficial for Pereira. He also picked up 10 attacking returns last season.
  • Julio Enciso (£5.5m) – Brighton had more shots on target than any other side in the league last season. Enciso also bagged four goals and two assists in 20 features.
  • Anass Zaroury (£5m) – The Moroccan was impressive in the Championship for Burnley last season. He managed to rack up six goals and six assists from his left-wing position.

Forwards £6m or less

  • Evan Ferguson (£6m) – Brighton were amongst the top four scoring sides in the league last campaign. Ferguson racked up three goals and one assist in his last five games for club and country.
  • Dominic Calvert Lewin (£6m) – Everton improved significantly under manager Sean Dyche. Calvert Lewin is also the focal point to the Toffees attack whilst also taking his sides penalties.
  • Carlton Morris (£5.5m) – Luton have a great set of early fixtures to start the season. Their biggest threat is Morris who accumulated 27 goal contributions in the Championship last campaign.
