Who could change position in FPL 23/24?

Last modified date

We touch upon one of the most important questions ahead of the new season, who could change position in FPL 23/24? Due to their positioning in the 22/23 campaign some players could be re-categorized in a different position and we will cover some of these here.

When a player experiences a position change it can have a significant impact on how attractive they are as an FPL asset. This is because the point system varies in each individual position. So, who could change position in FPL 23/24?

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool struggled in terms of consistency for sometime at the start of their 22/23 league campaign. That inconsistency led to some positional changes. One of the players who experienced exactly that was Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool defender has been one of the best in his positions for several seasons in FPL. But could that be about to change? Trent spent enough time in central midfield last season to make people question if he could get a position change from a defender to a midfielder in 23/24.

John Stones

The Premier League champions started the season slow but ended ruthlessly. One of the positive changes manager Pep Guardiola made was the position of centre-back John Stones. The Englishman was utilised in a central midfield role for large parts of the season. Because of this, there is a huge chance John Stones becomes a midfielder in FPL next season.

Cody Gakpo

It was his first season in a Liverpool shirt and although it took him some time to settle, Cody Gakpo’s performances became increasingly convincing. The Dutchman was categorised as a midfielder in FPL last season but after being utilised heavily in a forward role this season, Gakpo could well become a striker for the new campaign.

Lewis Hall

Chelsea had a torrid 22/23 season and this eventually led to the introduction of reserve players. One of the players to be given an opportunity was Lewis Hall. Although FPL categorised him as a midfielder, Hall spent most of his playing time in the back three/four. This indicates that he will become a defender for the new season ahead.

Julio Enciso

Brighton became one of the most investable teams in FPL this season due to their cheap enabling options and their great form. One of the players some FPL managers targeted was Julio Enciso. The 19-year-old entered the game as a forward in 22/23. However, most of Enciso’s positioning was in midfield and behind the striker. The Brighton youngster is another player who looks set for a position change.
