Who passed the eye test in Gameweek 37?

Last modified date

We take a look at the Saturday matches to see who passed the eye test Gameweek 37. With a focus on the matches played so far, we highlight some of the standout performances of the current round, whether they returned in Fantasy Premier League or not.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, looking at who passed the eye test in Gameweek 37 could be a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams moving forward.

Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford have had their most impressive season in the Premier League to date. They went into Gameweek 37 knowing a win could put them a little closer to European football. It was a tough task for the visitors but they beat Tottenham 3-1.

The biggest performance came from Bryan Mbeumo (£5.6m). The striker became one of the players of the week after scoring two of his three shots on target, highlighting his accuracy in front of goal. Mbeumo also created an assist to add to his big performance. His huge showing resulted in a massive 16 points in FPL. With a game against Manchester City up next, it could be wise to avoid investment.

Casemiro

Manchester United also came into the week with huge motivation to claim a win. The Reds needed three points to further secure a top four league position. Although it was a tight match, Manchester United claimed all three points via a 1-0 victory against Bournemouth.

It was a game full of good Manchester United performances but the key showing came from Casemiro (£4.9m). The budget midfielder became both creator and goal threat this week. Racking up three passes leading to shots, having four himself with two on target, Casemiro also scored a magnificent match winning goal.

Douglas Luiz

Liverpool had to win this week to give them a better chance of breaking into the top four. However, Aston Villa had other ideas as the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw. At times there felt like there was a lack of quality throughout the game , but one player stood out.

Playing a key role in the Aston Villa performance was Douglas Luiz (£4.8m). The central midfielder stole the limelight for his side, winning most of his duels to regain possession Luiz was also the most creative player on the pitch, mustering up three key passes and two big chances, one of which leading to an assist.

Alex Iwobi

Everton had to come away with something in Gameweek 37 and that they did. It was a tight contest against and Everton had to react after Wolves dealt the first blow going 1-0. The Toffees left it until right at the death to equalise but took away a much need point towards their relegation battle.

One of the players who stood out was Alex Iwobi (£4.9m). The winger was arguably the best player on the pitch. Digging in winning most of his duels Iwobi also created a key pass and threatened the oppositions goal with two shots on target. Although impressive Iwobi failed to secure an FPL return. The Toffees face Bournemouth in the final round and managers looking for an exciting pick could back Iwobi.
