Best players for Gameweek 34

Last modified date

We take a look at some of the best players for Gameweek 34 based on their records against their upcoming opponents. Using previous head-to-head records and underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout members area to help us pick out some great FPL picks for the round ahead.

Picking out the best players for Gameweek 34 could be helpful in making both transfer and captaincy decisions. The more information FPL managers have the better our decisions tend to be in terms of having successful assets in our fantasy teams.

Patrick Bamford v Bournemouth

Leeds are struggling near the bottom of the Premier League. However, they have a great opportunity ahead with their next game against Bournemouth. The promoted side rank as the worst defence in the league this season.

Because of the above, the Leeds frontline could have bags of potential. One player who had a great record against promoted sides, prior to this season, was Patrick Bamford (£7.1m). The striker bagged four returns in his seven games against them. Interestingly all four of his returns came in his last four head-to-heads.

Kevin De Bruyne v Fulham

Manchester City have a double Gameweek this week. One of the teams they face is Fulham. We can see from the graphic below that Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) has a very strong record against promoted teams before this season.

The Belgian midfielder produced a return in nine of the 12 games he played against promoted sides. Kevin De Bruyne’s consist of five goals and eight assists. This tallies to 13 goal contributions. Manchester City also play West Ham in the same week. Prior to this season De Bruyne also bagged seven returns in the 12 matches he played against the Hammers.

Marcus Rashford v Aston Villa

Manchester United have an interesting double Gameweek this week. They have matches against Aston Villa and Brighton. Firstly, we can see below that prior to this season Marcus Rashford (£7.2m) managed returns in three of his five matches against them. His points consist of one goal and two assists.

Rashford also has a good record against Brighton. In the nine matches has faced them he has returned in four of them. Those returns consist of four goals.

Mohamed Salah v Fulham

Liverpool are another team with a double Gameweek in the round ahead. One of the teams they face is Fulham. The graphic below shows Mohamed Salah’s (£13m) record against promoted teams prior to this season. We can see that the Egyptian has an excellent record against them, returning in 15 of his 23 matches against promoted sides.

What we cannot see is Salah’s record against his other Gameweek 34 opponents, Tottenham. Of the 11 games he has played against them he had bagged a return in six of them. His points against Tottenham in that period consist of five goals and two assists.

Trent Alexander-Arnold v Fulham

Staying with Liverpool, they also have another player who has had a successful run against promoted sides. The graphic below shows Trent Alexander-Arnold’s (£7.5m) record against them before this season. In fact, in the 19 matches he has faced a promoted side he has managed a huge 13 returns.

Trent’s record against Tottenham is less impressive, collecting a return in four of the 10 matches he has played against them. What is interesting is that of those four returns, three have come in his last five head-to-heads.
