Gameweek 34 best free hit team

Last modified date

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 34 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Manchester City, Brighton, Manchester United, Liverpool and West Ham all make up the top five teams with the easiest fixtures according to the fixture ticker. All five teams also have a double Gameweek in the round ahead.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest all make up the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures according to the fixture ticker.

The best free hit team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 34:

Goalkeepers

West Ham have two shots at a clean sheet this week as they double against Manchester City and Crystal Palace. We also have to take into account Lukasz Fabianki’s (£4.9m) potential to rack up save points. Because of this, he could be a great addition to the free hit this week.

Leicester’s Daniel Iverson (£3.8m) sist on the bench. He will only feature in the unlikely event Fabianski does not. Iverson also helps to enabler funds elsewhere within the side.

Defenders

Manchester City have a great double Gameweek in the round ahead. They face two teams who have failed to convince in terms of their underlying offensive data as of late. Manchester City have also been maintaining some of the best defensive stats all season. Because of this, his presence on set pieces and his reliability in terms of minutes, John Stones (£5.5m) makes the team.

Brighton also double this week. In their last six matches they rank joint third best for goals conceded (six), second best for shots in the box (27), third best for shots on target conceded (13) and third best for big chances conceded (five). Because of their stats and fixtures it could be wise to invest in Pervis Estupinan (£4.8m). The full-back ranks above all of his defensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks (0.80).

No defender in the league has a better non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six Gameweeks than Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m). Trent also takes his sides set pieces which give him and additional route to points.

Sitting as first substitute on the bench is West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal (£4m). The defender has started the last three matches in all competitions for the Hammers. Coufal also reflected his potential in his most recent match picking up a huge 11 points after producing an assist and keeping a clean sheet. He also comes in with a fantastic price-tag which helps to enable the rest of the team.

Joining the substitutes bench is Sven Botman (£4.5m). It is very doubtful he will be required but if he is Newcastle have been one of the best defensive units in the league this campaign so could be a good option if needed.

Midfielders

This season Brighton rank as one of the best attacks in the division. This can only be reinforced when looking at their most recent numbers. In the last six Gameweeks they rank first for shots on target (34), joint second for total attempts on goal (92) and joint third for big chances total (16). Taking into account their stats, double Gameweek and their cheap enabling midfielders, it could be worth doubling up on their frontline. One of the players who should be considered is Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m) who has picked up six returns in his last 10 matches. Another player holding plenty of appeal is Solly March (£5.2m) who edges all of his offensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last Gameweeks (2.81).

This season Manchester City rank first for goals scored (78), first for big chances total (108) and first for chances created (359). They also have a very good double Gameweek against Fulham and West Ham. One of the most reliable attackers in terms of minutes is Jack Grealish (£7.2m). The winger has bagged three returns in all three of his last matches, including two double-digit hauls.

Manchester United also have a double Gameweek ahead. They have games against Aston Villa and Brighton. The standout option in the frontline is Marcus Rashford (£7.1m). He sits amongst the top five scoring midfielders this season and has also managed an impressive 15 goals and four assists.

Liverpool face two teams, Tottenham and Fulham in the round ahead. Both sides have shown defensive inconsistencies lately. Penalty talker Mohamed Salah (£13m) could be a fantastic option this week. Amongst all players in the last six Gameweeks he ranks joint second for goals scored (five), second for shots in the box (18) and third for big chances total (six).

Forwards

Amongst all teams this season Liverpool rank second for attempts on goal (487), second for shots in the box (359), second for big chances (102) and joint second for shots on target (171). Because of this and their fixtures it could be worth doubling up in attack. One way we can do this is with Diogo Jota (£8.8m). The striker seems to have found his rhythm since returning from injury. Jota has banked two double-digit hauls in a row (16 and 13 points). Amongst all players in the last two Gameweeks he also sits joint first for goals (two) and first for big chances total (three).

It could be very unwise to exclude Erling Haaland (£12.2m). The penalty taker leads one of the best attacks in the league whilst also maintaining some of the best offensive stats in the league this campaign. In addition, Haaland is also the highest owned and highest scoring player in the game as well as being the standout captaincy option for Gameweek 34.

Bournemouth have a great fixture this week against Leeds. Furthermore, their opponents rank as one of the worst teams in the league this season for big chances conceded. Because of this and the fact he also takes penalties, Dominic Solanke (£5.5m) makes the bench.
