Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 33?

Last modified date

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 33.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Due a goal in Gameweek 33

Five of last week’s six names weren’t in Gameweek 32 action due to the FA Cup semi-finals. The other, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, finally made his return to first-team action after being absent from Gameweek 23. Not that he was able to score the 0-0 with Crystal Palace, despite three shots and two on target.

Ranked by xG

These same six names will be joined by Dominic Solanke. He was the focus of our Gameweek 31 article and then hauled at Spurs. Ownership shot up to over 513,000 teams ahead of facing West Ham on Sunday where, such is the nature of FPL, he blanked.

Solanke’s last six league games have yielded 23 shots – all inside the box – with an xG of 4.04. Therefore, managers and potential buyers shouldn’t be put off by this blank, considering Southampton (a) and Leeds (H) are up next.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is already fully-fit and back on the FPL radar, whilst Solly March will be determined to bounce back from his semi-final penalty miss. The combination of Pascal Gross going to right-back and Julio Enciso’s goal at Chelsea pushed Alexis Mac Allister further back into central midfield. Whether the cameo of Joel Veltman will return Brighton’s midfield to normality is yet to be seen.
