Best Crystal Palace picks in FPL

Last modified date

We take a look at the best Crystal Palace picks in FPL. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area, we utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to determine which of their players FPL managers should be targeting.

Looking at the best Crystal Palace picks in FPL could be really beneficial to managers as we approach an interesting period. Overviewing both their defensive and offensive options, we find out which players are worth selecting.

Fixtures

As we can see below, the fixture ticker orders the teams at the top with the best fixtures to the teams at the bottom with the worst fixtures. Crystal Palace rank third on the fixture ticker. This suggests they have the third best fixtures from now until the end of the season.

We can also see that that Crystal Palace face a match in blank Gameweek 32 against Everton. They also play West Ham in double Gameweek 34. The fixtures are an early indicator that investing in Crystal Palace could be beneficial to managers.

The Crystal Palace attack

As a whole this season Crystal Palace have struggled in front of goal. They rank amongst the worst five teams for attempts on goal (324), shots in the box (207), big chances total (43) and minutes per chance (8.9).

More recently things are improving for Crystal Palace. When compared to every other team in the league in the last six Gameweeks they rank around mid-table for some of the key attacking data points. They also rank the best in the league for goals scored in the box (five).

Since new manager Roy Hodgson has took over there have been even more improvements. In the last two Gameweeks amongst all teams they rank third for goals (seven), first for goals in the box (five), joint fourth for attempts on goal (47) and joint third for shots in the box (34).

The best Crystal Palace attackers

The Crystal Palace attack is in great form since Roy Hodgson’s take over. One of their top performers and their standout attacking option is Michael Olise (£5.4m). The winger edges his offensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six matches (2.57) and also bagged a 14-point haul in his most recent game.

Two more great midfielder options include Eberechi Eze (£5.4m) who produced two returns in his last two matches and Jordan Ayew (£5.2m) who has managed 18 points in the two matches under his new manager.

The Crystal Palace defence

Amongst all teams in the league this season Crystal Palace rank around mid-table for most of the key defensive data points. However they also rank the fifth worst team in the league for shots in the box conceded (282).

More recently in the last six Gameweeks Crystal Palace still rank around mid-table for many of the key defensive stats. However they have improved on their shots in the box conceded whilst also ranking the fourth best team for big chances conceded (eight).

Whilst being under new management in the last two Gameweeks Crystal Palace rank the third best for shots in the box conceded (11), joint third best for shots on target conceded (nine) and joint second best for big chances conceded (one).

The best Crystal Palace defensive assets

Crystal Palace have shown clear signs of defensive improvement under their new manager. The most nailed defenders in terms of minutes include Tyrick Mitchell (£4.4m), Marc Guehi (£4.4m) and Joachim Anderson (£4.5m).

Centre-back Joachim Anderson leads his defensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement this season (2.22). This means he could have a better chance of being involved in an attacking return.
