Looking at the best three under the radar picks for Gameweek 29 in FPL could be really beneficial to managers. Picking lesser selected players in the game can help gain rank or an edge over mini-league rivals so it’s always important to consider them.
Harvey Barnes
Leicester rank first on the fixture ticker this week. This means they have the best fixtures in the round ahead. A large factor in this is that they have a double Gameweek against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. Both sides have been conceding some poor underlying defensive data this season.
Aston Villa rank amongst the worst four teams in the league for big chances conceded (67) whilst Leicester’s other opponent, Crystal Palace, rank amongst the worst three teams in the league for shots in the box conceded (271) this season.
One player who will be looking to add to his recent returns is Harvey Barnes (£6.7m). Whilst many back his teammate James Maddison (£8.2m), it could be worth knowing that Barnes exceeds Maddison this season in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement (9.13). The midfielder has picked up nine goals and one assist during the current campaign already. With two great fixtures ahead, Barnes could well be flying under for Gameweek 29.
Jarrod Bowen
West Ham also have a double Gameweek this week. They face Southampton and Newcastle. Both sides have been struggling defensively as of late and West Ham will be looking to clamber their way out of a relegation battle.
What is interesting is that 84% of Jarrod Bowen’s (£8m) goals this season have been at the London Stadium, where both of his Gameweek 29 matches will be held. The winger has managed three goals and two assists in his last 10 matches in all competitions. He also edges all of his offensive teammates this season for non-penalty expected goal involvement (9.93).
Cody Gakpo
Liverpool have a double Gameweek in the round ahead. They face Chelsea and Manchester City. Although their opponenets could be deemed as tough, Liverpool have put up some fantastic offensive stats this season. Amongst all teams in the league this campaign they rank third for attempts on goal (424), second for shots in the box (307) and second for big chances total (85).
Many within the community will be looking at Mohamed Salah (£12.8m). However, one player flying under the radar is Cody Gakpo (£7.7m). Considerably cheaper than his teammate, Gakpo has managed four goals in his last six Premier League matches. Gakpo also ranks third amongst all players in the league in the last six matches for big chances total (six).
