Best premium players to own in FPL

Last modified date

We take a look at the best premiums to own in FPL. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area, we utilise its fixture ticker and underlying stats to decide which premiums could have the most potential in the latter stages of the season.

We are approaching an important part of the fantasy campaign. With blank and double Gameweeks edging closer it could be vital to know who the best premium players to own in FPL are. This could then help with decisions with transfers and captaincy.

Fixtures

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool rank top of the fixture ticker. This means they have the best fixtures in the league from now until the end of the season. The Reds face two double Gameweeks in the run ahead, giving them more fixtures than most other teams in the league.

Although they have been inconsistent for most of the season, in the last six Gameweeks they rank third for goals (13), joint third for attempts on goal (88), second for shots in the box (65), second for big chances total (23) and second for shots on target (36).

Since the restart, amongst all players in the league Salah ranks third for non-penalty expected goal involvement (7.51). As well as this, the Egyptian also ranks first for non-penalty expected goal involvement (4.66) amongst all players in the last six Gameweeks. In the same period Salah has amassed a whopping 49 points. With great fixtures and putting up some great stats, Salah could well be the best premium to own for the remainder of the season.

Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United rank third on the fixture ticker for the remainder of the season. They face two double Gameweeks ahead, play teams like Everton, Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Bournemouth but blank in Gameweek 32.

In their last 10 matches in all competitions Manchester United have netted 20 goals, averaging two goals per game. One of the best ways into the consistent attack is penalty and set piece taker Bruno Fernandes (£9.6m).

Bruno Fernandes has managed three double-digit hauls in his last eight matches. In terms of stats the Portuguese midfielder has been impressive. Amongst all players in the league Fernandes ranks third for chances created (71) and second for big chances created (19). In addition, no player has created more big chances that him in the last six Gameweeks (five). With great fixtures and stats, Fernandes could be one of the best premiums to own until the end of the season.

Kieran Trippier

Newcastle rank eight on the fixture ticker. This indicates that they have the eighth best fixtures from now until the end of the season. The face a double Gameweek in 29, a fixture in blank Gameweek 32 whilst also facing Everton, Southampton and Leeds in the same period.

They have been fantastic defensively this season and that is reflected in their stats. Amongst all teams they rank the best for goals conceded (19), joint first for clean sheets kept (12) and second best for big chances conceded (36).

Full-back Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) offers much more than clean sheet potential. Not only does Trippier rank as the highest scoring defender in the game but he also takes his teams set pieces and also dominates the distribution stats amongst all defenders. This season he ranks first for crosses (267), first for successful crosses (96), first for chances created (73) and first for big chances created (18). Because of this and his fixtures, Trippier is the best premium defender to own for the remainder of the season.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City sit fifth from bottom on the fixture ticker. This suggest that they have the fifth worst fixtures from now until the end of the season. Although they do not have a double Gameweek in 29 and do not face a fixture in blank Gameweek 32, they do have a double in Gameweek 34 whilst also having a high likeliness of doubling in Gameweek 37.

Amongst all teams in the league this season Manchester City rank first for goals (67), second for attempts on goal (444), first for big chances (97), joint first for minutes per chance (5.8) and first for shots on target (151).

The biggest contributor towards Manchester City’s goals is Erling Haaland (£12m). The Norwegian striker has bagged a colossal 28 goals and five assists already this season. Amongst all players in the league this campaign Haaland ranks first for goals, first for goals inside the box (27), second for attempts on goal (90), first for shots in the box (84) and first for big chances total (43). Taking into account his explosiveness, potential fixtures and elite offensive data Haaland could be an absolute essential until the end of the season.
