With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 29 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth and West Ham all make up the top five teams with the easiest fixtures according to the fixture ticker. All five teams face a double Gameweek in the round ahead.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Manchester City, Everton, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves all make up the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures according to the fixture ticker. All five teams do not have a double Gameweek in the round ahead.

Goalkeepers

It could be a tough week picking out a goalkeeper with good fixtures playing a in a great defence this week. Because of this managers could settle on Nottingham Forest’s Keylor Navas (£4.5m). He faces two struggling teams in the round ahead. One of the teams they face, Wolves, rank as the joint worst team in the league for goals scored this season (22).

The cheap and enabling Nottingham Forest reserve goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey (£3.9m) will stay on the bench. He will only feature in the unlikely event that Navas does not.

Defenders

Chelsea have a good double Gameweek against two teams who rank amongst the worst in the league this season for big chances conceded. This and the return of Chelsea’s wing-back system gives Ben Chilwell (£6m), who has been directly involved in half of the Blues last eight goals, plenty of potential in the round ahead.

Newcastle have been one of the best defensive units in the league this season. Although they have suffered a recent slump, it only slightly dampens the appeal of full-back Kieran Tripper (£6.1m). He has dominated key distribution data points amongst all defenders in the league this season. Along with set piece taking the Newcastle man has multiple route to points in FPL.

Brighton have been defensively solid this season. This can be reflected in the fact that they rank second best in the league for shots on target conceded (81) and third best for big chances conceded (38). They also face one of the worst defences in the round ahead, Bournemouth. Because of this and the fact he has bagged five assists in his last 11 games, Pervis Estupinan (£4.8m) could be a great addition.

Leicester’s Timothy Castagne (£4.4m) and Sven Botman (£4.5m) make great back-up options on the bench however it is very unlikely they will be needed.

Midfielders

This season amongst all teams in the league Brighton rank amongst the best six teams for goals scored (46), goals scored in the box (26), big chances total (71), minutes per chance (6.6) and shots on target (138). They face Bournemouth and Brentford who have conceded more shots on target than any other team in the league this season so doubling up on their attack with Solly March (£5.1m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£5.5m) could be a hugely beneficial.

Only Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£12m) has a better non-penalty expected goal involvement this season than Mohamed Salah (£12.8m). In fact, in the last six Gameweeks the Liverpool midfielder edges every other player in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement (4.66).

Since the restart no player in the league has scored more goals than Marcus Rashford (£7.3m). The Manchester United midfielder has also notched up a huge 13 big chances, ranking second in the same period. Not only is he a great option this week but he is also the standout captaincy option.

Leicester rank top of the fixture ticker this week with matches against the inconsistent Crystal Palace and one of the worst teams in the league for big chances conceded, Aston Villa. James Maddison (£8.2m) is the standout Leicester attack. The midfielder has banked nine goals and six assists in just 20 matches so far this campaign.

Forwards

It could be too hard to ignore the fact that Chelsea’s upcoming opponents rank amongst the worst teams in the league this season for big chances conceded. Kai Havertz (£7.6m) is the focal point to the Chelsea attack, takes his teams penalties and has scored a goal in all of his last three matches.

Amongst all strikers in the last six Gameweeks Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins (£7.5m) ranks joint first for goals (four), second for shots in the box (14) and second for big chances total (five). Because of this and his form, he could have great potential in his double ahead.

Brentford may have a tough double Gameweek in 29 but their main man Ivan Toney (£7.9m) has managed 16 goals and four assists in just 25 games this season. Toney takes his teams penalties and is the focal point to Brentford attack. Owners can bring him in for another player at their own discretion, but for now sits as the first substitute.
