Gameweek 28 best free hit team

Last modified date

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 28 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

Fixture ticker

Who has the best fixtures?

Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Leeds all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures in Gameweek 28.

Who has the worst fixtures?

West Ham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Fulham and Brighton all rank amongst the bottom six teams with the worst fixtures. This is because none of them actually have a match in Gameweek 28.

The best free hit team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 28:

Goalkeepers

Chelsea have a nice home game against strugglers Everton in Gameweek 28. No team in the league has scored less goals this season than Everton (20) so Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.7m) is an easy inclusion. Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) is the cheapest and safest playing goalkeeper in the game and will feature in the unlikely even Kepa does not.

Defenders

Chelsea look settled in their back three system which allows their wing-backs to get into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Ben Chilwell (£5.9m) has been directly involved in four of Chelsea’s last four goals, highlighting his huge potential going into the new round.

Newcastle have the best defence in the league this season and full-back Kieran Trippier (£6m) has sustained better distribution stats than any other defender. His potential was once again highlighted in the previous Gameweek where he picked up an assist.

Arsenal rank as the second best defence in the league this season for clean sheets kept. Oleksander Zinchenko (£5.2m) leads his teammates in the last six matches for non penalty expected goal involvement and picked up a goal and assist in the same period. Newcastle’s Sven Botman (£4.5m) and Wolves’ Max Kilman (£4.4m) make great budget enablers on the substitute bench.

Midfielders

Arsenal have been amazingly consistent in attack this season and as of late. In the last six matches they rank first for goals (17), first for attempts on goal (139), first for shots in the box (90) and joint first for shots on target (38). Because of this the inclusion of Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) and Martin Odegaard (£6.9m) could be very beneficial.

Newcastle face Nottingham Forest in the round ahead. In the last six Gameweeks the promoted side rank joint worst for goals conceded (12) and amongst the four worst teams for shots in the box conceded (40) and shots on target conceded (28). Because of this and the fact he’s managed a cool 11 goals and one assist this season already, Miguel Almiron (£5.4m) could have bags of potential.

Tottenham rank amongst the best teams in the league this season for goals scored. They face a struggling Southampton. It has been a tough season for Son Heung-min (£11.6m). However he showed glimpses of his previous form in his last game scoring and picking up nine points in FPL.

Aston Villa face one of the worst defensive units in the league in Bournemouth this week. Due to this and his price Leon Bailey (£4.4m) makes it as first sub on the bench.

Forwards

Amongst all players in the league this season Tottenham’s Harry Kane ranks second for goals scored (20), second for goals in the box (18), first for attempts on goal (96) and second for headed attempts on goal (30). Taking his teams penalties and facing a poor defence means he is an easy inclusion.

No team in the league has conceded more attempts on goal (437) or shots in the box (283) this season than Bournemouth. Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins (£7.3m) has managed to rack up six returns in his last seven matches in the league. Because of this he could have huge potential ahead of Gameweek 28.

Chelsea are obviously improving and the focal point to their attack is German Kai Havertz (£7.5m). The striker has scored in his last two back-to-back matches in all competitions and also takes his teams penalties.
