With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 24 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all. However, Experienced FPL managers usually tend to use the chip in blank Gameweeks.

Wolves, Brighton, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton and Leicester all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Goalkeepers

Southampton have really struggled this season. In fact, they sit rock bottom in the league whilst also losing five of their last six matches in all competitions and failing to score in three of the same six games. For that reason it could be worth investing in Chelsea’s Arizzabalaga Kepa (£4.6m).

Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) will sit firmly on the substitute bench and will only feature in the unlikely even that Kepa fails to feature.

Defenders

Chelsea’s recent defensive improvements and their upcoming opponents could warrant a defensive duo in Gameweek 24. Full back Reece James (£5.8m) could be considered as one of the most dangerous defenders in Europe and with the return of his fitness, could be an exciting and beneficial addition to the team.

Newcastle may rank near the bottom of the fixture ticker this week but they have the best defence in the league. In addition to that full back Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) is the best performing defender in FPL whilst also maintaining the best distribution stats amongst all defenders.

Tottenham play with a wingback system which allows their wingbacks to advance forward and get into some of the most offensive positions on the pitch. Their opponents West Ham rank amongst the worst teams in the league for attempts from set plays conceded in the last six matches (31). Due to that the addition of Ivan Perisic (£5.5m) could hold big potential.

Arsenal defender Ben White and Wolves defender Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) make the bench. Both have great price-tags and help enable the rest of the squad.

Midfielders

Fulham rank the worst team in the league for big chances conceded (67) so investing in a Brighton attack that rank second in the last six matches for goals scored (13) could be a wise move. Kaoru Mitoma (£5.3m) has banked five returns in his last six matches.

The last time Nottingham Forest faced one of the best attacking teams in the league, they lost 3-0 (Manchester United). This could provide managers with a huge opportunity to invest in Riyad Mahrez (£7.8m). The Algerian has collected four returns in his last six matches and is becoming increasingly reliable in terms of minutes.

Arsenal rank second for total attempts on goal (108) and first for shots in the box (78) in the last six matches so investing in their attack could be key. Martin Ødegaard (£7m) is one of Arsenal’s most explosive attackers, picking up six double-digit hauls already this season.

The amazing form of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford (£7.3m) cannot be ignored. The Englishman has blanked just twice in his last 10 matches and is an absolute must going into a game against a defensively fragile Leicester.

Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.4m) remains one of the best enablers in the game and will sit as the first substitute ready to come on if any of the attackers fail to feature.

Forwards

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (£12.2m) dominates the majority of the key offensive data amongst all players in the league. The Norwegian has picked up a huge seven double-digit hauls this season and is the most consistent player in the game. Excluding him could be detrimental to rank and mini-league position. He’s also the standout captaincy option in Gameweek 24.

Arsenal’s impressive offensive stats mean it could be worth doubling up on their offensive line. In the last six matches amongst all forwards Eddie Nketiah (£6.8m) ranks first for non penalty expected goal involvement (4.79). His opponents Aston Villa rank the second worst team for big chances conceded in the last six matches (19) so Nketiah has bags of potential this week.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane (£11.8m) sits as the second highest scoring player in FPL so far. His relentless consistency has flown under the radar since the arrival of Erling Haaland but with 17 goals and one assist already this season his potential going into any given game is huge.
