@FPLReaction’s FPL team reveal for Gameweek 23

Last modified date

Gameweek 22 is now over so we can start looking ahead to the new round. For that reason, we bring in Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Community contributor @FPLReaction to provide us with a FPL team reveal for Gameweek 23.

As we approach any given deadline, managers will be scrambling for clarity on some of the biggest decisions in the game like transfers and captaincy. Taking a look at @FPLReaction’s FPL team reveal for Gameweek 23 could benefit other managers when making those decisions.

Team reveal

Goalkeepers

Chelsea play a West Ham who rank one of the worst teams in the last six matches for shots on target so Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.6m) could have good potential this week. Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) will stay firmly on the bench.

Defenders

Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) is an easy lock in defence, especially as he is facing Bournemouth this week. Manchester United need to start keeping clean sheets again and Luke Shaw (£5.3m) needs to improve soon. I think Shaw could be a transfer out looking ahead.

Manchester City are another team that need to start keeping clean sheets again for me to benefit picking the best defensive option there, Maunel Akanji (£5m). Wolves defender Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) could be a concern moving forward as he failed to start his last match. Nathan Patterson (£3.9m) is also a concern in terms of if he will start for new manager Sean Dyche if and when he is fit, but stays on the bench anyway for now.

Midfielders

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes (£9.9m) could make way for Arsenal midfielder Bukayo Saka (£8.3m) this week. Even though he has a great single Gameweek fixture, Saka has two matches so naturally has a much higher ceiling.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford stays. He’s in fantastic form and it would be crazy to drop or sell him. Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (£12.4m) has a double Gameweek as well so I’m looking forward to see if he will repay the faith this week.

Arsenal have a double Gameweek but there’s a big chance Gabriel Martinelli (£6.6m) could go for a minus four hit this week. Martin Ødegaard (£7m) is likely to replace Martinelli. He has better expected minutes, better stats and is passing the eye test.

Fulham’s Andreas Pereira (£4.4m) sits first on the bench just in case any of the other attackers do not feature.

Forwards

Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah (£6.8) has been posting some of the best expected offensive data in the league since the restart. For that reason he could be an essential going into Gameweek 23. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (£12.2m) takes the captaincy. He’s still in relentless form and still maintaining some of the best attacking stats in the league.

Fulham’s Aleksander Mitrovic (£7m) is on thin ice and needs to start returning soon. Nottingham Forest have been great defensively as of late so I’m hoping for anything from him at this point.

Additional notes

There is a huge chance I sell Martinelli and Fernandes for Ødegaard and Saka this week. This would give me six players with double Gameweeks including an Arsenal triple attack.
