Community Team Reveal Gameweek 19 – Ryan (Football Chatbox)

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 19, it’s the turn of Ryan (Football Chatbox) to tell us what he is doing to his team.

Hi Ryan and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 18 go?

It’s safe to say that Gameweek 18 was a bad one for many managers out there. Kevin De Bruyne continues to disappoint and the only reason he’s still in my team is the upcoming doubles. Let’s not even talk about Joao Cancelo, as it looks like he ended up on Pep’s naughty list this Christmas.

What does your defence look like?

Luke Shaw is coming in for Reece James, who is unfortunately out for some time. I’m hoping that rumours of a Manchester United Double Gameweek 20 come true, making Shaw a great player to own. Beyond then, I’m happy to persist given his tendency to rack up bonus points.

Paired with him, I’ve got both Ben White and Kieran Trippier facing each other and, while Arsenal are the league leaders, Newcastle are solid defensively and Trippier is another bonus point magnet.

Cancelo will be on my bench this week, even though there’s a chance he’ll finally get a game since when against Chelsea but Rico Lewis hasn’t really done anything wrong. I don’t want to be playing Pep Roulette this week.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

In midfield, there is a benching headache. All five have a genuine chance of scoring but I’ve decided to bench Miguel Almiron because I expect the Arsenal match to be a tight affair.

I’ve also considered benching De Bruyne because that’s how bad he’s been. However, he is a differential player for me and while I’m sitting just outside of the top million I need to take a few risks.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 19 and beyond?

One moves Darwin Nunez to Aleksandar Mitrovic after the latter avoided getting booked in Gameweek 18. There was a genuine shout to sell Anthony Martial but the combination of Bournemouth (H) and then a possible Double Gameweek 20 pushed me towards Darwin.

The other, as mentioned, brings Shaw in for James. After that, Martial is the next weak link in my team, so let’s see what doubles get announced.

Finally, what about captaincy?

Even with one match, Erling Haaland will still be the popular pick. However, I will be putting my armband on Mitrovic, with vice-captaincy currently with Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
