Denmark v Tunisia match report

Last modified date

The World Cup is now here. Our first Group D kick off begins today. We take a look at the Denmark v Tunisia match. We will highlight the line-ups, pick out the key moments and standout World Cup Fantasy performances during the match.

Covering the Denmark v Tunisia match can be very useful to World Cup Fantasy managers. Highlighting line-ups, key moments and standout fantasy performances can aid decisions regarding future transfers, captaincies and chip strategy.

Line-ups – Denmark

Joakim Maehle (£4.5m) starts whilst being one of the most owned defenders in the game. Maehle’s owners will be hoping for at least a clean sheet from him. Another player many within the community have selected is midfielder Andreas Skov Olsen (£6m) who also starts.

Tunisia

Budget enabler and midfielder Wahbi Khazri (£4.5m) fails to make the starting line-up but makes the substitute bench. Many fantasy managers may have selected the Tunisia goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen (£4m) who also starts the match.

Key moments

  • Tunisia have started really well despite many believing they would not and Denmark are struggling to maintain possession.
  • Denmark are starting to grow into the game with final third positioning in the opponent’s half and a series of set pieces (20th minute).
  • Tunisia striker Issam Jebali (£4.5m) is through on goal and tries to lob the goalkeeper but Kasper Schmeichel (£5m) makes a fantastic save to stop Tunisia leading.
  • Thomas Delaney (£5.5m) comes off after picking up an injury and is replaced by fellow midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard (£6m).
  • The whistle blows for halftime, 0-0.
  • Ayen Dahmen makes a big save to stop Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen (£8m) from scoring.
  • Skov Olsen is substituted off.
  • The match ended 0-0.

Standout World Cup Fantasy performances

  • Due to the score line, there were plenty of defensive returns from both sides. The Tunisian goalkeeper earned more than six points due to his clean sheet and saves. Another successful asset was Denmark defender Maehle who hit six points for his clean sheet.

@FPLReaction’s (Louis) comments

I did not expect Denmark to dismantle Tunisia due to my experience of watching multiple defensive displays by Tunisia in their recent African Cup of Nations. However, I did expect a Denmark win. Tunisia held up well but once again reflected their bluntness in attack.

Maehle was quite attacking and got into some really great positions and Eriksen took nearly every set piece. Both players look like promising assets moving forward.
