UCL Fantasy Matchday 3 review

We look at the UCL Fantasy Matchday 3 review. Overviewing every game that was played out in the latest round of Champions League football. Covering player of the match awards and picking out players who drew in some of the biggest returns of the round.

With Matchday 3 now over, we can look back and reflect. Matchday 4 is just around the corner so looking at the players that did well could be beneficial to UCL Fantasy managers as they plan for the new round ahead of Matchday 4.

Bayern v Plzen

Bayern came into the match as heavy favourites to win, and they did not let fans down. The German team dismantled Plzen 5-0. Midfielder Sadio Mane (£10.5m) was a huge success for his owners. He managed a huge 15 points due to his goal, assist and player of the match award.

Another player that performed well was fellow midfielder Leroy Sane (£9.2m). The German international struck 12 points for his two goals. In addition, the excitement of Jamal Musiala’s (£7m) early assist was met with disappointment as he was substituted at half time.

Marseille v Sporting

There was a lot of interest in the Sporting assets heading into this match. The match however left owners disgruntled. Budget goalkeeper Antonio Adan (£4.6m) was red carded in the 23rd minute. This led to minus four points and blocking the ability for managers to substitute him out for another goalkeeper. The red card continued to cause problems. Midfielder Pedro Goncalves (£7.5m) was substituted off at half time in a tactical change.

Midfielder Amine Harit (£5.9m) took the spoils for Marseille. The attacker picked up 13 points for his goal, assist and player of the match award.

Porto v Leverkusen

After a disappointing start to their UCL campaign, Porto came away with the strong win they needed. The match finished 2-0 to the home side. The star of the match was goalkeeper Diogo Costa (£4.9m). The man between the sticks hit 16 points for his penalty saved, clean sheet and player of the match award.

Another big returner was striker Mehdi Taremi (£7.4m). After a disappointing price drop in the previous Matchday the forward came back with a bang. His two assists meant he finished the match on a cool eight points.

Inter v Barcelona

Not many knew what to expect between both sides. However, it was the Italian team that scraped the three points with their 1-0 victory. There was a lack of UCL Fantasy returns in this game. Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu (£7.5m) did however hit 12 points for his goal and player of the match award.

Inter defender Frederico Dimarco (£4.4m) also collected 12 points due to his assist and 11 ball recoveries.

Liverpool v Rangers

Heavy expectation of a Liverpool win and clean sheet were met with success amongst the community. The home side took away a comfortable 2-0 win against the Scottish side. Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold (£6.5m) hit a huge 14 points after scoring his direct free kick and keeping a clean sheet.

Another player with high expectations was midfielder Mohamed Salah (£11m). The Egyptian also met those high hopes of fantasy managers with his 11 points. His return consisted of a goal and a player of the match award.

Ajax v Napoli

After taking an early lead the Dutch giants were humbled. The Italian side grew into the game and ended up taking a fantastic 6-1 win away. It wasn’t all bad for Ajax investors. Midfielder Mohammed Kudus (£5.3m) continued his great start to UCL Fantasy life. The Ajax attacker rewarded faithful owners with his seven points for his goal.

Defender Givanni Di Lorenzo (£5m) returned a big haul of 13 points for his goal and player of the match award. Budget enabling favourite and midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (£5.5m) struck 10 points for his goal and assist. Forward Giacomo Raspadori (£7m) was also successful. The striker ended the match on 13 points due to his two goals and assist.

Club Brugge v Atletico Madrid

Club Brugge maintain their efforts in providing managers with fantastic value for money in terms of assets. They breezed past European regulars Atletico with their 2-0 win. Striker Ferran Jutgla (£5.6m) is becoming a favourite within the fantasy community. He managed his second double-digit in a row after his goal, assist and player of the match award.

Budget defenders (£4.2m) Brandon Mechele and Bjorn Meijer both returned points.

Frankfurt v Tottenham

As well as a lack of goals there was also a lack of UCL Fantasy points for attacking players here. The clean sheet meant that all defenders came away with significant returns. Those players included an eight-point return for Tottenham’s Ivan Perisic (£6m). Player of the match was awarded to Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow (£6m), taking him to eight points.

Leipzig v Celtic

One of the early kick-offs saw German side Leipzig win 3-1. Celtic star and midfielder Jota (£6.5m) did however collect seven points for his goal. Leipzig Forward Andre Silva (£7.5m) picked up a seismic haul of 16 points for his two goals, assist and player of the match award.

Popular UCL Fantasy asset and midfielder Christopher Nkunku (£9m) finished on eight points after his goal and three ball recoveries.

Salzburg v Dynamo Zagreb

Austrian side Salzburg squeezed a 1-0 home win against Dynamo Zagreb in Matchday 3. One of the most popular returners was midfielder Noah Okafor (£7.6m) after he came away with eight points for his goal. Another player that succeeded was budget goalkeeper Philipp Kohn (£4.5m). He kept a clean sheet and made three saves to take his tally to seven points.

Salzburg midfielder Nicolas Seiwald (£6m) took away a hefty return. His 12 ball recoveries and player of the match award resulted in a 10-point return.

Sevilla v Dortmund

German side Dortmund won comfortably in their 4-1 win. Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham (£7.3m) went into the game over 20% owned. He went onto securing a big haul of 13 points for his goal, assist and player of the match award.

Defender Raphael Guerreiro (£4.8m) also continued to provide big returns. The Portuguese player hit eight points after his goal.

Man City v Copenhagen

The home side came into the match as heavy favourites and proved that in their 5-0 win. The clean sheet meant big returns at the back for Man City. However, Although Joao Cancelo (£6.7m) picked up five points for his assist, he was substituted off just before the clean sheet points came in.

Forward Erling Haaland (£11.1m) may have only played 45 minutes, but the striker managed nine points for his two goals within that time.

Real Madrid v Shakhtar Donetsk

The Spanish side could have won by more goals, but the match finished in their favour 2-1. Real Madrid midfielder Rodrygo (£8m) hit a double-digit haul of 16 points due to his goal, assist and player of the match award. Midfielder Vinicus Junior (£10m) also returned; the Brazilian picked up eight points for his goal.

Chelsea v Ac Milan

Many expected a much tighter match between the sides. That failed to play out as the home side won comfortably 3-0. Defender Reece James (£6m) returned an incredible 20 points after his goal, assist and player of the match award.

Six-point returns came in for attackers Raheem Sterling (£9.5m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang (£9m).

Benfica v PSG

Matchday 3 saw two of Europe’s most in-form teams face off. With no clean sheet for either side meant a lack of defensive returns. PSG midfielder Marco Veratti (£6m) collected six points for his eight ball recoveries and player of the match award.

11% owned PSG forward Lionel Messi (10.5m) secured seven points after his goal.

Juventus v Maccabi Haifa

Italian giants beat Maccabi Haifa 3-1. They pushed aside their inconsistent form in all competitions. Midfielder Adrien Rabiot (£6m) picked up his massive haul of 16 points from his two goals and 12 ball recoveries.

Another successful Juventus midfielder was Angel Di Maria (£7.4m). He returned 15 points after his three assists and player of the match award.
