Best differential XI for Gameweek 10

Last modified date

In this weekly series, Will from Fantasy Football 92 explores the low ownership differential options that could be the hidden gems to help you climb up those world rankings. He is his best differential XI for Gameweek 10.

We’ve all seen the template XI and figured out which elite assets to jump onto for this season. Whether on the Salah train, the Haaland bus or both, FPL managers need some unique names to ensure they’re always one step ahead of your mini-league rivals.

Here are the differential options we like the look of for Gameweek 10.

GOALKEEPER

Vicente Guaita – Crystal Palace – 2.1% TSB

Crystal Palace’s favourable run of fixtures starts with this week’s home game against Leeds. Therefore, it’s time to jump on assets such as £4.5m goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. Clean sheets haven’t come for Palace yet but they’re surely just around the corner.

DEFENDERS

Ryan Sessegnon – Tottenham Hotspur – 1.1% TSB

James Justin – Leicester City – 1.2% TSB

Kurt Zouma – West Ham United – 1.9% TSB

Tottenham’s wing-back conundrum has been tough to navigate so far. However, Emerson Royal’s suspension and Antonio Conte’s evident lack of faith in Matt Doherty should ensure Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon occupy these positions for the next three matches.

Meanwhile, James Justin enjoyed a very rare clean sheet against Nottingham Forest over the weekend, as did Kurt Zouma against Wolves. Both have appetising fixtures this time round, facing Bournemouth and Fulham. They will be confident of achieving back-to-back shut-outs.

MIDFIELDERS

Philippe Coutinho – Aston Villa – 4.3% TSB

Jack Grealish – Manchester City – 1.2% TSB

Harvey Barnes  Leicester City – 1.3% TSB

Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United – 2.3% TSB

Jarrod Bowen – West Ham United – 4.0% TSB

This week’s midfield consists of three big names that are yet to get going and two mid-range options that will hope their Gameweek 9 goals can kickstart their campaigns.

Star trio Philippe CoutinhoBruno Fernandes and Jack Grealish currently have just two goals and one assist between them.

Coutinho has been the worst of the lot, having not yet registered an attacking return. Beyond that, recent signs are good, as he’s looking much sharper and was denied a wondergoal by the post against Leeds. Oh and he’s about to face Nottingham Forest!

In the Manchester derby, Grealish showed plenty of promise and did almost everything but score, while Fernandes cut a frustrated figure at the other end. The Portuguese maestro has a fixture against Everton to get his teeth into – you’ve heard of chasing points, well this is the opposite!

Our recent articles have tipped Jarrod Bowen and Harvey Barnes to get back towards their brilliant best. It looks like the prediction is beginning to come true, as both scored in Gameweek 9 alongside Bowen’s fortunate assist. With such good fixture runs, these two are prime candidates for upcoming price rises.

FORWARDS

Odsonne Edouard – Crystal Palace – 1.8% TSB

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa – 2.1% TSB

Crystal Palace are bursting with creative players, so their forward is likely getting plenty of chances over their great fixtures. Step forward, Odsonne Edouard.

The Eagles don’t face a ‘top six’ side between now and the World Cup, so Edouard looks likely to be one man who’ll benefit. He got on the scoresheet against Chelsea and will be confident at continuing this during this weekend’s hosting of Leeds.

It’s an opponent that Ollie Watkins couldn’t buy a goal against at this weekend, thwarted on several occasions by Illan Meslier. Like Coutinho, he has the privilege of playing against the Forest defence. Does any more need saying?
