Community reactions: Gameweek 1

Last modified date

Delving into the FPL Twitter community to cover some reactions from gameweek 1. Looking at both the negative and positive, we see how key moments in the first round affected members of the community in the world of FPL.

Seeing some of the FPL community reactions in any gamweek can always be fun. Not just that but it also helps managers gage which teams or players stood out in a negative or positive way. This could even lead to FPL managers making better decisions for the gameweek ahead.

Andy reflects on £5m Arsenal defender Zinchenko’s potential as an FPL asset moving forward. The defender came away with a clean sheet, an assist and all three bonus points. This topped off a fantastic FPL performance.

Zinchenko could well make managers watchlist and could even be a priority transfer for the good fixtures ahead. Despite this left back Tierney also returned from injury so it could be worth seeing how that affects Zinchenko’s minutes.

Louis points out that the most owned player going into the season in FPL £8m forward Gabriel Jesus failed to register any attacking returns in gameweek 1. This would have been seen as a huge disappointment to many.

Albeit the above the Brazilian striker looked lively. Creating and driving forward Jesus came close to an assist. Team mate Odegaard looked for a pass when he had a great opportunity in front of goal.

£6.5m Mitrovic came into gamweek 1 under 10% owned within the FPL community during the match the Fulham striker managed to score with a thumping header clear of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

Mitrovic fixtures perk up over the next three matches. Fulham play Wolves and Brentford which could attract some new owners for the Serbian.

Geoff highlighted the fact that many FPL managers will be debating Harry Kane’s place in their teams. Spurs managed an impressive 4-1 victory against Southampton but forward Harry Kane failed to register a single attacking return.

This will be a key moment in the game week because many were split between Kane and Haaland. The Man City striker also has high expectations in gameweek 1.

@FFS_Community also pointed out two players who failed to return, both were well owned by FPL managers going into the gameweek.
