Transfer Window: gossip and rumours

Last modified date

With the summer here, the internet is rife with FPL transfer rumours and gossip. So here is a round-up of today’s key talking points.

The summer transfer window is always busy for clubs as they get ready for the new season. It is also a time where FPL managers carefully watch the market to get a feel for how their FPL teams might look next season.

As singings are made official our new signings article will be updated.

Wednesday 29th June: gossip and rumours

Fabrizio Romano: Raphinha London bound

Romano reported on Tuesday evening that Leeds and Chelsea had agreed a fee for Raphinha reportedly around £60/65m.

He is now reporting that Chelsea and Raphinha will now sit down to discuss personal terms.

FPL Comment: In their draft team maker LiveFPL have priced Raphina at £7.5m. If he is priced here and moves to Chelsea he will make an attractive midfield option for managers. Raphinha’s creativity should be rewarded at Chelsea as their squad has plenty of good potential link ups for Raphinha, something that was missing at Leeds last season when Bamford was out injury.

90 Mins: Brownhill back in the Premier League

90 Mins are reporting that Southampton have joined the race to sign Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill. Brownhill and Burnley were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2021/22 season.

FPL Comment: Burnley’s Brownhill was a popular FPL asset last season. The midfielder was an excellent budget enabler for FPL managers. If Brownhill signs for Southampton he will likely once again be a good budget enabling option in the game.

Sky Sports: Spurs want the Everton duo

Sky Sports are reporting that in addition to their interest in signing Ricahrlison Spurs also want to bring Anthony Gordon to the club. They report that Spurs want to negotiate a double deal with Everton for both players. Sky do however suggest that Chelsea are also interested in Richarlison.

This is also reported by the Guardian Sport.

FPL Comment: Richarlison to Spurs has been long rumoured over the course of the close season before. With Champions League football again this season Conte wants two players in every position and therefore Spurs need a new forward. However game time in the league could be an issue with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski already at the club. Anthony Gordon could be a good budget differential if he moves to Spurs. Especially if the move happens after he is priced in FPL.

Telegraph: Chelsea after two Man City players

The Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea are looking to bring two City players to London this summer. The blues have already opened up talks with the Champions over the signing of Raheem Sterling. However the paper now report that they are also hoping to sign Nathan Ake, with Chelsea having parted company with Rudiger and Christensen this summer. This is also muted by Simon Phillips.

FPL Comment: If Ake goes to Chelsea this should make Reece James a highly attractive FPL option. With Ake, James would play on the right which is his best position for securing FPL points for his owners.

Monday 27th June: gossip and rumours

Sky Sports: Lingard to return to London

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have made an offer for Jesse Lingard to his agents. Lingard is a free agent from the 1st of July and Moyes would like to bring the midfielder back to the club where he had a successful loan period in the 2020/21 season.

FPL Comment: Lingard played 16 matches for West Ham when on loan. In those matches he returned nine gaols and four assists. If Lingard signs for West Ham this summer he could offer a great midfield opportunity to invest in West Ham.

Fabrizio Romano: Eriksen close to a decision

Romano is reporting that Eriksen is close to making a decision on his future. The midfielder is deciding between Manchester United and Brentford.

FPL Comment: Eriksen proved that he us still a fantastic asset for Premier League clubs. He made nine starts for Brentford last season, in that time he registered five attacking returns. If Eriksen does sign for a Premier League club this summer he will likely be a popular FPL asset next season. Should Eriksen sign for Brentford his price tag would potentially be lower than at United. This would be attractive for FPL managers.
