With the summer here, the internet is rife with FPL transfer rumours and gossip. So here is a round-up of today’s key talking points.

The summer transfer window is always busy for clubs as they get ready for the new season. It is also a time where FPL managers carefully watch the market to get a feel for how their FPL teams might look next season.

Monday 27th June: gossip and rumours

Sky Sports: Lingard to return to London

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have made an offer for Jesse Lingard to his agents. Lingard is a free agent from the 1st of July and Moyes would like to bring the midfielder back to the club where he had a successful loan period in the 2020/21 season.

FPL Comment: Lingard played 16 matches for West Ham when on loan. In those matches he returned nine gaols and four assists. If Lingard signs for West Ham this summer he could offer a great midfield opportunity to invest in West Ham.

Fabrizio Romano: Eriksen close to a decision

Romano is reporting that Eriksen is close to making a decision on his future. The midfielder is deciding between Manchester United and Brentford.

FPL Comment: Eriksen proved that he us still a fantastic asset for Premier League clubs. He made nine starts for Brentford last season, in that time he registered five attacking returns. If Eriksen does sign for a Premier League club this summer he will likely be a popular FPL asset next season. Should Eriksen sign for Brentford his price tag would potentially be lower than at United. This would be attractive for FPL managers.

Friday 24th June: gossip and rumours

Portuguese sure The Record are reporting that Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with Manchester United’s transfer business so far. They suggest that he is considering leaving the club. Diario AS are reporting that Bayern want Ronaldo to replace Lewandowski.

FPL Comment: With Haaland and Kane competition with Ronaldo for the premium spot in FPL managers teams he was unlucky to start the season heavily owned. The arrival of Ten Hag will likely mean that FPL managers will look to wait and see on the Red Devils. If Ronaldo does move to Bayern this will however likely please Bundesliga Fantasy managers.

Sky Italia: de Ligt to Chelsea

Sky Italia are reporting that Chelsea are interested in signing centre-back Matthijs de Ligt to replace Anthony Rudiger. Matthijs de Ligt has a £103m release clause on his contract with Juventus. Meanwhile The Standard suggest that the player has already hinted at an exit.

FPL Comment: de Ligt made 31 appearances in Serie A last season. He scored three goals and returned one assist, contributing to 7% of Juventus’ goals in the competition. These attacking stats would make the centre-back an attractive option to FPL managers if he moves to the Premier League.

Romano is reporting that it is now a two club race for Eriksen with Man United and Brentford waiting the player to decide his future.

Fabrizio Romano: Two new Premier League players immenent

Romano is reporting that Nick Pope (Newcastle) and Malcolm Ebiowei (Crystal Palace) will both complete their moves this week. Pope was relegated with Burnley last season, mean while Ebiowei looks set to reject Manchester United in favour of Palace.

FPL Comment: Pope is a highly regarded FPL goalkeeper. He had low ownership during the 2021/22 season, mostly as a result of Burnley’s defensive problems. However, playing behind a strengthened Newcastle defence would improve his appeal and likely make him a popular target. Ebiowei played for Derby last season and was a target of Ten Hag’s United. However the winger has opted for Palace and could make an excellent option there. Ebiowei played 15 times for Derby last season in what was his break though year. He scored once.

Give me Sport: High valuation for JWP

Give me Sport are reporting that Southampton are hoping to ward off interest in James Ward-Prowse with a high valuation. Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham are all reportedly interested in signing the Southampton midfielder. Southampton have placed a £75m valuation on Ward-Prowse.

FPL Comment: James Ward-Prowse returned 159 FPL points last season, he was the 11th highest scoring midfielder in the game. The midfielder as a large route to points with his set piece threat. He will likely be overlooked in FPL at Southampton in the early Gameweeks as the Saints have a tricky set of fixtures to start the season. However, if he moves away from St Mary’s he will likely grow quickly in popularity.

Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal still hopeful on Jesus

Romano is reporting that Arsenal and Man City are still working on the deal for Gabriel Jesus.

FPL Comment: Jesus is a proven Premier League goal scorer. However his limited game time had made him a difficult FPL pick. However, if he moves to Arsenal and is a regular starter he would be an excellent FPL asset.
