Last modified date

With the summer here, the internet is rife with FPL transfer rumours and gossip. So here is a round-up of today’s key talking points.

The summer transfer window is always busy for clubs as they get ready for the new season. It is also a time where FPL managers carefully watch the market to get a feel for how their FPL teams might look next season.

Tuesday 31st May: gossip and rumours

The Telegraph: Man City after two more players

The telegraph are reporting that Man City are interested in signing two more defensively minded players. Kalvin Philips from Leeds and Marc Cucurella from Brighton. Philips would be to replace Fernandinho who leaves City this summer.

FPL comment: Both signings would strengthen the Man City defensive line. Cucurella especially could be an attractive FPL target under Pep. This is especially true if he is priced as a Brighton player and then moves clubs.

Sky Sports: The race for Spence

Djed Spence was at loan at Nottingham Forest this season from Middlesborough. The right-back has been key to Forest making it back in to the Premier League. Sky Sports are reporting that Forest will bid to keep the player on a permanent basis this summer. They suggest the club are more hopeful since achieving promotion. However they also report that Spurs, Brentford and Bayern Munich are chasing his signature.

FPL Comment: Wing-backs have been key in FPL this season. Regardless of which club Spence is at he looks to be a great option in FPL 2022/23 if he is at a Premier League club. The player returned three goals and four assists last season.

Monday 30th May: gossip and rumours

Fabrizio Romano: Mane leaving Liverpool?

In the wake of Liverpool’s loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Romano reports they may be about to lose Mane. Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to sign Mane who has one year left on his contract at Liverpool.

FPL comment: Mane has been a key FPL asset for many seasons. However, his price tag last season meant he wasn’t owned by as many managers. Mane was the fifth most expensive player in the game at the end of the season and finished ninth for points scored.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham add to their defence with Conte confirmed staying at Spurs

Whether Conte would stay at Spurs for the 2022/23 was a key talking point as Spurs qualified for the Champions League. With Spurs announcing a £150m investment for the new season, Conte has reportedly committed to staying in North London. Romano suggests that target Perisic is traveling to London today for a medical.

FPL Comments: Perisic has won the Champions League and Seria A under Conte. He has also won the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. In addition he has won domestic cup triumphs with four different clubs. He scored 10 goals and 9 assists last season. Conte believes he is the man to help teach and transform the future of Ryan Sessegnon.
