Gameweek 38 is the final week of the 2021/22 season. This means it is the last opportunity for managers to maximise the potential of the captaincy chip. Gameweek 38 is the final Gameweek of the FPL season. With the title, four top, European spots and relegation all still up for grabs there is a lot riding on these fixtures. Picking a highly motivated captain with a good fixture will likely be key to success in Gameweek 38.
Gameweek 38 potential captains
Son Heung-Min
Son is just one goal behind Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
Since Conte’s arrival at Spurs in Gameweek 12 no outfield player has scored more goals than Son across the division.
He is also top for attacking returns with 25, just one more than teammate Harry Kane. His seven double digit hauls in this period is only bettered by West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
Since Gameweek 30 Son has also created 21 chances for his teammates, only three players in the game can better this.
In Gameweek 38 Spurs and Son face Norwich. Norwich have conceded 79 goals over the course of the season, no club have conceded more. Son has a good record against the Canaries. The midfielder has returned 20 points in his last two fixtures against Norwich in the Premier League, including a goal, an assist and two bonus points in Spurs 3-0 win in the reverse of this fixture.
Harry Kane
Since Gameweek 12 no player in the league has had more goal attempts than Kane. He is also top for big chances in the same period.
The Spurs forward has now scored in three of his last four Premier League matches. Like Son, Kane also has Norwich in Gameweek 38. Kane has returned in three of his four Premier League fixtures against Norwich and he averages 9 points per match against them.
The Tottenham striker tends to finish the season on a high and has returned three double digit hauls win the last four matches he has player on the final day.
Mason Mount
Chelsea face relegated Watford in Gameweek 38. Watford have conceded 75 goals so far this season, only Leeds and Norwich have conceded more.
Mount registered 12 points in the reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season with a goal, an assist and two bonus points.
The Englishman is top across the Chelsea team for goals, assists and attacking returns this season. His expected assist and expected goal involvement tallies are also team leading totals.
The Chelsea midfielder averages 8 points per match in Gameweek 38.
