Key FPL injuries and bans: Gameweek 37
For FPL managers the availability of their players, both in terms of key FPL injuries and bans, is an important part of their Gameweek preparations. Knowing which players are available is key to FPL success, we take a run through key FPL injuries and bans after Gameweek 36.
Double Gameweek 36 finished yesterday and Sunday will see the final Double Gameweek of the FPL season. However before the deadline Chelsea and Liverpool will play the FA Cup final. As a result FPL managers will likely want to hold their transfers until after the cup final. Below is a run though of all the key FPL injuries and bans that we know so far ahead of the deadline.
Key FPL injuries
Players to monitor ahead of Gameweek 37
Arsenal
Ben White (Arsenal) – Hamstring injury Made the bench against Spurs but did not feature post injury.
Gabriel (Arsenal) – Muscle injury Suffered a muscular injury in the match against Tottenham on 12/5 and was substituted shortly after.
Aston Villa
Leon Bailey (Aston Villa) – Ankle injury Suffered an ankle injury in the match against Norwich on 30/4 and is set for an MRI scan.
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) – Knock Sufferred a ‘small injury’ in the match against Liverpool on 10/5 and was substituted.
Brentford
Zanka (Brentford) – Thigh injury Missed the match against Watford with a minor thigh issue.
Sergi Canos (Brentford) – Hamstring injury Missed the Watford game on 16/4 with a “minor hamstring injury”. Will be sidelined for a few weeks. Could be back against Everton on 15/5.
Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) – Hamstring injury Substituted in the Watford game on 16/4 with a hamstring issue. Ruled out for “a few weeks”. Could be back against Everton on 15/5.
Burnley
Jay Rodriguez (Burnley) – Calf injury Taken off with a minor calf injury in the match against Wolves on 24/4.
James Tarkowski (Burnley) – Hamstring injury Taken off against Aston Villa on 7/5 after complaining of hamstring tightness.
Chelsea
N’Golo Kante (Chelsea) – Knock Missed the Everton game on 1/5 after picking up a minor knock. Is hoping to be back for the Wolves match on 7/5.
Everton
Ben Godfrey (Everton) – Thigh injury Missed the Liverpool game on 24/4 after he tweaked his quad in the warm-up.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – Thigh injury Ruled out for 10-14 days on 20/4 with a quad injury.
Leeds
Liam Cooper (Leeds) – Knee injury Withdrew from the Leeds starting XI on 30/4 after “feeling something in his knee”. His manager hopes the issue isn’t serious.
Liverpool
Fabinho (Liverpool) – Muscle injury Suffered a muscle injury in the match against Aston Villa on 10/5 and was substituted.
Newcastle
Joe Willock (Newcastle) – Knee injury Was assessed for a niggling knee issue ahead of the Wolves game on 8/4 and wasn’t risked.
Fabian Schar (Newcastle) – Knock Substituted in the match against Liverpool on 30/4 but his manager was unsure about the extent of the problem.
Spurs
Cristian Romero (Spurs) – Hip injury Missed the match against Arsenal on 12/5 with a hip injury.
Watford
Cucho (Watford) – Muscle injury Limped out of Watford’s match against Leeds on 9/4 with a muscle injury.
Wolves
Daniel Podence (Wolves) – Lack of match fitness Back in training ahead of the Chelsea game on 7/5. It was reported on 9/5 that he “still had some restrictions”.
Potential FPL options with longer term key FPL injuries and bans
Arsenal
Thomas Partey (Arsenal) – Thigh injury Substituted against Crystal Palace on 4/4. Further assessment has shown damage to his thigh.
Keiran Tierney (Arsenal) – Knee injury Missed the match against Crystal Palace on 4/4 with a knee injury. Could miss the rest of the season.
Brighton
Jakub Moder (Brighton) – Knee injury Suffered what seemed like a serious-looking knee injury in the match against Norwich on 2/4. His manager said afterwards that the prognosis was “not positive”
Enock Mwepu (Brighton) – Groin Injury Substituted with a groin injury in the match against Wolves on 30/4. Likely out for the rest of the season.
Burnley
Gudmundsson (Burnley) – Illness Ruled out for “weeks” on 3/2 after it was revealed he had surgery following appendicitis.
Erik Pieters (Burnley) – Knee injury Taken off in the match against Crystal Palace on 26/2 after taking a knock to his knee and has been sidelined since. Weeks away from a return as of 3/3.
Ben Mee (Burnley) – Leg injury Suffered a knock to his knee in the match against Leicester and has been sidelined since after fibula damage was detected. The club are hoping that he will still return before the end of 2021/22.
Ashley Westwood (Burnley) – Leg injury Stretchered off with a serious leg injury against West Ham on 17/2
Matej Vydra (Burnley) – Knee injury Missed the Aston Villa game on 7/5 after feeling pain in his knee. Was later revealed to be a serious ligament injury and he will be out for several months.
Chelsea
Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) – Knee injury Substituted in the Champions League win over Juventus on 23/11 with a partial injury to his ACL. Initially ruled out for six weeks on 26/11 but it later transpired that he would require surgery and miss the rest of 2021/22.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) – Achilles injury Struggling with an Achilles injury and missed out against Newcastle on 13/3. Has been sidelined since despite an attempt to return to training. Is still feeling the issue as of 1/4 and now has lower-back problems. Remains unavailable as of 27/4.
Crystal Palace
Nathan Ferguson (Crystal Palace) – Hamstring injury Ruled out of the Norwich game on 9/2 with a supposedly minor injury. A hamstring issue was since confirmed and he faces an absence of between five and six weeks.
Leicester
Ndidi (Leicester) – Knee injury Substituted in the Europa League tie against Rennes on 17/3 with a medial knee injury. His manager said on 31/3 that he will be out for the season.
Leeds
Stuart Dallas (Leeds) – Leg injury Stretchered off with a season-ending leg injury on 30/4. A scan later revealed a femoral fracture and he will be sidelined for a long period
Tyler Roberts (Leeds) – Hamstring injury Suffered a hamstring strain expected back 1/6.
Patrick Bamford (Leeds) – Foot injury Suffered a foot injury against Wolves on 18/03. An update from the club on 27/3 confirmed that he had ruptured his plantar fascia and would be out for a minimum of six week
Man City
Kyle Walker (Man City) – Ankle injury Suffered a twist to his ankle in the match against Real Madrid on 13/4 and has been sidelined since. Remains unavailable as of 29/4 and his manager is unsure whether he’ll feature again in 2021/22.
Ruben Dias (Man City) – Hamstring injury Taken off with a hamstring injury in the match against Newcastle on 8/5, with his manager ruling him out for the season.0
John Stones (Man City) – Muscle injury Substituted in the match against Brighton on 20/4 with muscle tightness. Returned against Real Madrid on 26/4 but was then forced off again early on. Ruled out for the season.
Man United
Luke Shaw (Man United) – Leg injury Substituted in the match against Leicester on 2/4 after suffering the recurrence of an old leg injury. Still sidelined as of 15/4 and could be out for another 4-5 weeks.
Paul Pogba (Man United) – Calf injury Substituted with a calf injury in the match against Liverpool on 19/4. Ruled out for a minimum of four weeks on 22/4. Only has an outside chance of featuring again in 2021/22.
Norwich
Josh Sergant (Norwich) – Ankle injury Suffered the recurrence of an old ankle injury when making a comeback on 30/4. Ruled out for the season.
Southampton
Tino Livramento (Southampton) – Knee injury Taken off on a stretcher in the match against Brighton on 24/4 after suffering a serious knee injury.
Spurs
Matt Doherty (Spurs) – Knock Took a knock to the knee in the match against Aston Villa on 9/4 and had to be substituted. Out for the rest of the season.
Japhat Tanganga (Spurs) – Knee injury Missed the FA Cup tie against Brighton on 5/2 with a knee injury and has been sidelined since. Ruled out for the season on 18/3 after undergoing surgery. Should be back for the pre-season of 2022/23.
Oliver Skipp (Spurs) – Groin Injury Ruled out of the FA Cup tie against Brighton on 5/2 with what was initially thought to be a short-term groin injury. Has had two setbacks while on the cusp of a comeback and finally underwent surgery on 26/4. Will return for pre-season.
Sergio Regulion (Spurs)– Groin Injury Ruled out of the Leicester game on 1/5 with groin pain. No timeframe has been placed on his return.
West Ham
Angelo Ogbonna (West Ham) – Knee injury Taken off against Liverpool on 7/11 after needing stitches to an eye wound but his manager also revealed after full-time that he had taken a knock. A scan later revealed that he had suffered an ACL injury.
Wolves
Nelson Semado (Wolves) – Hamstring injury Substituted with a hamstring injury in the match against Brighton on 30/4.
Max Kilman (Wolves) – Ankle injury Ruled out of the Burnley game on 24/4 after complaining of ankle pain in training. Remains sidelined as of 28/4 and could be out for the season
Key FPL Bans
Rob Holding (Arsenal) – 1 Match Ban Sent off after being shown two yellow cards against Tottenham.
Dan James (Leeds) – 3 Match Ban Sent off for serious foul play on 11/5 and now suspended for three matches.
