Best Liverpool picks for Double Gameweek 36

Last modified date

Liverpool play twice in Double Gameweek 36. We take a look at their underlying stats and investigate the ownership percentages for the Liverpool players. Ahead of matches against Aston Villa and Spurs, we assess the best investment options from the Merseyside Reds.

Liverpool qualified for the Champions League final on Tuesday evening. They also still have the FA Cup final to play, as well as needing to win every match left in the Premier League if they are going to stay in the race for the Premier League title.

Underlying Stats

The attack

Liverpool have scored 86 goals in the Premier League this season. No team have scored more than Liverpool. This makes their players really attractive FPL options. In.the last six Gameweeks they have scored 11 goals, this is tied third with both Spurs and Man City having scored more goals recently.

Mo Salah is the Premier League’s highest goal scoring player so far this season. The Liverpool midfielder has scored 22 goals, two more than second places Son Heung-Min.

However, in the last six Gameweeks he has only scored two goals. This is tied twelfth for outfield players.

Salah is also top across the Liverpool team for attacking returns this season with 36. This is 15 more than the next best Liverpool asset for attacking returns Diogo Jota. No FPL asset has more attacking returns than Salah this season.

Some FPL managers may wish to double up with Liverpool midfielders. Diogo Jota is second for both goals and attacking returns behind Salah and therefore looks the most attractive option. Jota was also substituted at half time in the Champions League which could suggest more secure minutes in the Premier League.

The defence

Liverpool have kept 21clean sheets this season. No team in the league has kept more clean sheets than the reds. As a result the Liverpool defenders offer great potential ahead of Double Gameweek 36.

Alexander-Arnold is top for attacking returns from defenders this season with 14. Teammate Robertson is second with 13.

Trent is the only FPL defender to have returned over 200 points so far this season. So far Alexander-Arnold has returned 202 points for his owners. However over the last six Gameweeks Alexander-Arnold has registered 15 points, in comparison to 33 for Robertson. Robertsons form could lead to some FPL managers looking to swap Liverpool defenders to free up budget, or indeeds double up on the Liverpool defenders.

Ownership ahead of Double Gameweek 36

Only three Liverpool players are owned by more than 10% of managers in the top 10k.

Owning one of them therefore means managers are unlikely to benefit from their points in teams of Overall Rank rise. Especially with Salah as with over 95% ownership when he is highly captained his effective ownership will be over 100% meaning red arrows as a result.

3966 managers in the top 10k own all three of the players listed above. This makes owning Liverpool players more beneficial to overall rank gain. Adding the likes of Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota or Luis Dias to your team however would be great differentials.

FPL Cymraeg has a poll on whether he should invest in Robertson or Matip for Gameweek 36.

With Robertson playing a significant amount of game time in the Champions League, some FPL managers are worried that he may only play once in the Double Gameweek.
