Key FPL injuries and bans ahead of Gameweek 34

For FPL managers the availability of their players, both in terms of key FPL injuries and bans, is an important part of their Gameweek preparations. Knowing which players are available is key to FPL success, we take a run through key FPL injuries and bans after Gameweek 33.

Double Gameweek 33 saw seven teams play twice. As a result FPL managers will have less time to make their transfer decisions ahead of the Gameweek 34 deadline. Gameweek 34 is another Double Gameweek with Man United and Chelsea playing twice. Below is a run though of all the key FPL injuries and bans that we know so far ahead of the deadline.

Players to monitor ahead of Gameweek 34

Arsenal

Takehiro (Arsenal)Calf injury Missed the match against Wolves on 24/2 after reinjuring his calf. Has been sidelined since and missed for the Aston Villa game on 19/3 as the club carefully handle the recurring issue.

Brentford

Zanka (Brentford)Thigh injury Missed the match against Watford on 16/4 with a minor thigh issue.

Brighton

Shane Duffy (Brighton) Thigh injury Will miss the Spurs game on 16/4 due to a thigh issue.

Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku (Cheslea)Achilles injury Missed training on 7/4 with an Achilles issue and didn’t recover in time for the Southampton game on 9/4.

Matteo Kovacic (Chelsea)Ankle injury Taken off with a knock to his ankle against Palace in the FA Cup semi-final on 17/4. Ruled out for two weeks on 19/4.

Crystal Palace

Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace)Calf injury Limped out of Crystal Palace’s match against Leicester on 10/4 with a calf injury.

Luca Milivojevic (Crystal Palace)Hamstring injury Ruled out of the Newcastle game with a hamstring issue.

Liverpool

Roberto FirminoFoot injury MIssed the match against Man Utd on 19/4 with a minor foot injury.

Man City

Kyle Walker (Man City) Ankle injury Suffered a twist to his ankle in the match against Real Madrid on 13/4. Missed out on the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool on 16/4.

Man United

Fred (Man United) – Hip injury Had to be substituted in the Everton game on 9/4 after complaining of problems with his hip flexor muscle. Has been sidelined since but his manager said on 19/4 that the injury will be “gone in one week”

Scott McTominey (Man United)Foot injury Ruled out of the Everton game on 9/4 after complaining of pain in the sole of his foot.

Raphael Varane (Man United) Knock Missed the match against Everton on 9/4 with an unspecified injury and has been sidelined since. Back on the grass ahead of the Liverpool game on 19/4 but missed the game.

Paul Pogba (Man United)Calf injury Substituted with a calf injury in the match against Liverpool on 19/4 and his manager fears that he will be on the sidelines for a while.

Newcastle

Joe Willock (Newcastle)Knee injury Was assessed for a niggling knee issue ahead of the Wolves game on 8/4 and wasn’t risked.

Southampton

Shane Long (Southampton)Ankle injury Picked up an ankle injury in the match against Leeds on 2/4. Has only done light training as of 7/4 and didn’t recover in time for the Chelsea game on 9/4.

Spurs

Oliver Skipp (Spurs) – Ruled out of the FA Cup tie against Brighton on 5/2 with a groin injury. Still sidelined for the West Ham game on 20/3 but aiming to return after the March international break.

Watford

Will Hughes (Watford)Knock Missed the match against Leicester on 10/4 with a knock.

Cucho (Watford)Muscle injury Limped out of Watford’s match against Leeds on 9/4 with a muscle injury.

Potential FPL options with longer term key FPL injuries and bans

Arsenal

Thomas Partey (Arsenal)Thigh injury Substituted against Crystal Palace on 4/4. Further assessment has shown damage to his thigh and he will be out for “weeks”

Keiran Tierney (Arsenal)Knee injury Missed the match against Crystal Palace on 4/4 with a knee injury. Could miss the rest of the season.

Aston Villa

Lucas Digne (Aston Villa)Shoulder injury Suffered a suspected collarbone injury in the match against Spurs on 9/4 and his manager fears that his season could be over. However he posted pictures of himself lifting weights on social media.

Brighton

Jakub Moder (Brighton) Knee injury Suffered what seemed like a serious-looking knee injury in the match against Norwich on 2/4. His manager said afterwards that the prognosis was “not positive”

Brentford

Sergi Canos (Brentford) Hamstring injury Missed the Watford game on 16/4 with a “minor hamstring injury”. Will be sidelined for a few weeks.

Burnley

Gudmundsson (Burnley) Illness Ruled out for “weeks” on 3/2 after it was revealed he had surgery following appendicitis.

Erik Pieters (Burnley)Knee injury Taken off in the match against Crystal Palace on 26/2 after taking a knock to his knee and has been sidelined since. Weeks away from a return as of 3/3.

Ben Mee (Burnley) Leg injury Suffered a knock to his knee in the match against Leicester on 1/3 and was eventually substituted despite initially continuing. Has been sidelined since after fibula damage was detected and is now looking at after the March international break for a comeback. Still sidelined as of 31/3 with no return date set.

Ashley Westwood (Burnley) Leg injury Stretchered off with a serious leg injury against West Ham on 17/2

Chelsea

Ben Chilwell (Chelsea) Knee injury Substituted in the Champions League win over Juventus on 23/11 with a partial injury to his ACL. Initially ruled out for six weeks on 26/11 but it later transpired that he would require surgery and miss the rest of 2021/22.

Crystal Palace

Nathan Ferguson (Crystal Palace)Hamstring injury Ruled out of the Norwich game on 9/2 with a supposedly minor injury. A hamstring issue was since confirmed and he faces an absence of between five and six weeks.

Everton

Yerry Mina (Everton)Thigh injury Sustained a thigh injury in the match against Newcastle on 8/2. Ruled out for 8-10 weeks.

Leicester

Jamie Vardy (Leicester)Knee injury Suffered a knee injury in the match against Leeds on 5/3 and was ruled out for around 3-4 weeks.

Danny Ward (Leicester)Knee injury Ruled out for a number of weeks on 16/3 after undergoing knee surgery. His manager thinks he won’t return until near the end of the season.

Ndidi (Leicester) – Knee injury Substituted in the Europa League tie against Rennes on 17/3 with a medial knee injury. His manager said on 31/3 that he will be out for the season.

Leeds

Junior Firpo (Leeds)nee injury Suffered an MCL injury in the match against Aston Villa on 10/3 and was stretchered off. Ruled out for 3-5 weeks

Tyler Roberts (Leeds)Hamstring injury Suffered a hamstring strain expected back 1/6.

Patrick Bamford (Leeds)Foot injury Suffered a foot injury against Wolves on 18/03. An update from the club on 27/3 confirmed that he had ruptured his plantar fascia and would be out for a minimum of six week

Man City

Reuben Dias (Man City)Hamstring injury Ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in the FA Cup tie against Peterborough on 1/3.

Man United

Luke Shaw (Man United)Leg injury Substituted in the match against Leicester on 2/4 after suffering the recurrence of an old leg injury. Still sidelined as of 15/4 and could be out for another 4-5 weeks.

Edinson Cavani (Man United)Calf injury Limped out of Argentina’s match against Chile on 30/3 with a reported calf strain. Ruled out for anything up to five weeks on 1/4.

Newcastle

Callum Wilson (Newcastle)Calf injury Substituted with a muscle injury in the match against Man Utd on 27/12. Initially ruled out for eight weeks on 8/1 but his manager said on 7/2 that he may only return for the “last few games of the season”

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle)Foot injury Substituted with a foot injury against Aston Villa on 13/2. A scan revealed a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot and he has undergone surgery. Had another scan on 1/4 and the results were not as positive as hoped for but he could still return before the end of the season.

Ryan Fraser (Newcastle)Hamstring injury Substituted in the match against Wolves on 8/4 after suffering a hamstring injury.

Norwich

Josh Sargent (Norwich)Ankle injury Rolled his ankle in training and has spotted wearing a protective boot. Missed the Brighton game on 2/4 and could be out for “a couple of weeks”.

Spurs

Matt Doherty (Spurs) Knock Took a knock to the knee in the match against Aston Villa on 9/4 and had to be substituted after an initial attempt to play on. Will be assessed to determine the extent of the problem. Rumoured to be out for the rest of the season.

Japhat Tanganga (Spurs)Knee injury Missed the FA Cup tie against Brighton on 5/2 with a knee injury and has been sidelined since. Ruled out for the season on 18/3 after undergoing surgery. Should be back for the pre-season of 2022/23.

West Ham

Angelo Ogbonna (West Ham) – Knee injury Taken off against Liverpool on 7/11 after needing stitches to an eye wound but his manager also revealed after full-time that he had taken a knock. A scan later revealed that he had suffered an ACL injury.

Kurt Zouma (West Ham)Ankle injury Limped out of West Ham’s match against Brentford on 10/4 with an ankle injury. Will miss the Europa League tie against Lyon on 14/4 as further assessment continues. Media reports suggest he could be out for the season.

Issa Diop (West Ham) Ankle injury Media reports on 19/4 suggest he could be out for the rest of the season with an ankle ligament issue.

Wolves

Nelson Semado (Wolves)Muscle injury Limped off in the Arsenal game on 24/2 with an apparent muscle issue and has been missing since. Ruled out for at least one month on 4/3.

Rueben Neves (Wolves)Knee injury Suffered a knee ligament injury against Leeds on 18/3. Ruled out until May on 23/3
