Today’s FPL Gossip: De Bruyne hurt and Lacazette misses training

A look at the latest rumours and bits of gossip that the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) community is talking about.

De Bruyne headlines midweek Champions League knocks

Although Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota have picked up knocks this week, they are thought to be very minor.

However, two Man City injuries picked up at Atletico Madrid led to Pep Guardiola declaring: “We are in big trouble.” Kyle Walker landed heavily on his ankle and couldn’t continue, whilst Kevin De Bruyne limped off after seemingly tweaking a muscle when chasing a ball.

The league leaders will hope they are also minor but, with seven matches over the next 24 days, even just missing a week or two could have a damaging effect on their bid to win three trophies.

In FPL, De Bruyne’s premium price was perhaps off-putting to managers. But his recent form of six goals from seven matches in all competitions may have tempted some. Defensively, the security of Joao Cancelo’s starts was probably not in danger but a Walker injury should emphasise this.

Arsenal training pictures show no Alexandre Lacazette

Wednesday evening brought rumours that Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette may not be available for Double Gameweek 33. According to Connor Humm, he was absent from group training pictures. He added that the forwards were doing drills using Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli as a front three, with Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe just behind.

Although Lacazette is the third-most selected forward amongst the top 100k, he has just one goal from 11 league matches. Any word of an injury will surely begin a mass exodus for the French international.
