Best picks from Brighton for Double Gameweek 33

Last modified date

Brighton play twice in Double Gameweek 33. So let’s assess their best FPL options ahead of matches against Tottenham and Man City.

Heading into last weekend, this was set to be a very brief piece. Terrible form had seen Brighton deliver just one point and one goal from their last seven matches. Together with away trips to Tottenham and Man City in Double Gameweek 33, there was simply no FPL appeal whatsoever.

Yet a 2-1 win away at Arsenal reminds us that Graham Potter’s side is very capable when they want to be. With a nickname suggesting such, the Seagulls were playing like they were on the beach, sitting safely in mid-table.

Four of Spurs’ last seven matches have resulted in a winning margin of at least four goals, with champions Man City in pole position to retain their crown. It’ll be an uphill task to get any points.

Underlying Stats

Brighton is one of the only team’s not to have any player reach 100 points so far. Two clean sheets have arrived in their last 14 outings, with forward Neal Maupay goalless in seven matches before being dropped at the Emirates.

Although Brighton ranks well for goal attempts and touches in the opposition’s penalty area, they are fourth-worst for shots on target. No team has a lower percentage of shots being on target than their 27.25% (109 from 400).

Furthermore, nobody has underachieved more when comparing goals (28) to expected goals (41.80). They are an FPL nightmare.

Ownership for Double Gameweek

That is why their assets are barely owned within the top 10k, with only goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (8.17%) in more than 1.5% of squads. Overall, there is more love within the inactive teams.

Shane Duffy rarely starts anymore, with Yves Bissouma only there as a cheap fifth midfielder to bench. It’s hard to imagine any Brighton players getting transferred in, despite featuring twice.

Community Chatter

Most Brighton-related FPL chat seems to regard buying players from their opponents. FPL Frasier intends to Free Hit this week but is struggling to find options from the south coast.
