What to expect from the Gameweek 33 fixtures

With Gameweek 32 underway it’s time to turn our attention to Gameweek 33. With more European football to be played ahead of the next deadline we take a look at what to expect from the Gameweek 33 fixtures.

In Gameweek 33 Aston Villa, Wolves and Leeds all blank as a result of their opponents involvement in the FA Cup semi-finals. In addition Man United, Southampton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester and Burnley all play twice.

All of the stats in this article include data up to and including Gameweek 31.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Spurs v Brighton

There have been 9 previous meetings in the Premier League between spurs and Brighton. Spurs have won six of the previous meetings, Brighton two and there has been one draw.

Spurs have won three of the last four meetings between the sides, including the reverse of this fixture in Gameweek 29. Brighton have been on a difficult run of form in the league picking up just one point in their last five matches.

Across these two teams Son Heung-Min is the tied top goal scorer with 14. Son’s Tottenham teammate Harry Kane is second with 12, Neal Maupay is third with eight. Son and Kane are tied first for assists with six each so far this season. Dejan Kulusevski who only joint the league in January is third with five assists already.

On average this season Spurs create 2.23 chances per match, significantly more than the 1.27 Brighton create on average.

Defensively Spurs have kept 11 clean sheets this season, in comparison to eight for Brighton. Brighton kept a clean sheet in Gameweek 31 however there last clean sheet prior to this one was in Gameweek 25. With the exception of a nil nil draw against Arsenal in Gameweek 7, all of Brighton’s clean sheets have come against the newly promoted sides, or those fighting relegation.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Man United v Norwich

There have been 19 previous meetings in the Premier League between Man United and Norwich . United have won 15 of these, Norwich have collected three points three times and there has been one draw.

United have won four of the last five meetings between these two sides in the Premier League. They have also kept a clean sheet in three of the four victories, including in the reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season.

Both sides will be disappointed with their form and performances heading in to Gameweek 33. Even with both sides picking up a point in Gameweek 31.

This will be the first fixture in a Double Gameweek for Man United in Gameweek 33.

Across these two teams Cristiano Ronaldo is the top goal scorers with 12. Bruno Fernandes is second with nine and Teemu Pukki is third with eight. Paul Pogba is top for assists with 9, Fernandes is second with six and Fred is third with four.

On average this season United create 1.97 chances per match, significantly more than the 0.57 Norwich create on average.

Defensively United have kept 7 clean sheets this season, in comparison to just five for Norwich. However, Norwich did keep a clean sheet in their last Premier League fixture against Brighton.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Southampton v Arsenal

There have been 45 previous meetings in the Premier League between Southampton and Arsenal. The Gunners have won 25 matches, Southampton seven and there has been 13 draws.

The last five meetings between the two sides have resulted in two draws and three wins for Arsenal. When the two sides met in December Arsenal won the game 3-0. However, Arsenal have recently had some injury blows with Keiran Tierney ruled out after surgery.

Arsenal have now lost two of their last three Premier League matches. Southampton broke their losing run in Gameweek 31 as they picked up a point against Leeds.

Across these two teams Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe are the top goal scorers with nine. Che Adams is third with seven. Alexandre Lacazette is top for assists this season with 7. Saka and Nathan Redmond are tied second with five each.

On average this season Southampton create 1.33 chances per match, more than the 1.1 Arsenal create on average.

Defensively Arsenal have kept 13 clean sheets this season, in comparison to seven for Southampton.

Both Arsenal and Southampton play twice in Double Gameweek 33, this is the first game of the Gameweek for both clubs.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Watford v Brentford

These two teams have only met once in the Premier League, in the reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season. Brentford won this one by two goals to one. However, these clubs also spent two seasons together in the Championship. In their last five meetings in all competitions both sides have won twice and there has been one draw.

Brentford pulled off a shock victory against Chelsea in Gameweek 31 and they have now won three of their last five Premier League matches. Watford have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five in the competition.

Across these two teams Ivan Toney has scored the most goals with 11. Eammanuel Dennis is second with nine, however he was benched in Gameweek 31 and so managers should be mindful of this. Cucho Hernandes is third with five. Bryan Mbeumo is top for assists this season with six, Dennis and Kiko Femenía are joint second with five.

On average this season Watford create 1.33 chances per match, slightly more than the 1.16 Brentford create on average. However, Brentford’s chances created tally has increased since the arrival of Cristian Eriksen.

Defensively Brentford have kept six clean sheets this season, in comparison to just three for Watford.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Newcastle v Leicester

There have been 29 previous meetings in the Premier League between Newcastle and Leicester. Both sides have won 12 times and there has been five draws. The last five games in the Premier League times with at least three goals scored in every game. On two occasions a team has scored four goals and once five goals.

Newcastle had been on a fantastic run in the Premier League since the arrival of Eddie Howe. However they have now lost their last three matches in the competition. Leicester were unlucky not to leave Old Trafford with all three points in Gameweek 31. They have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches in the league.

Across these two teams injured Jamie Vardy is the top scorer with 10 goals. James Maddison is second with eight and Youri Tielemans is third with six. Harvey Barnes is top for assists this season with six. Kelechi Iheanacho is second with five and Maddison third with four.

On average Leicester create 1.29 chances per match. In contrast Newcastle create just 0.80 chances on average. However, the Magpie’s production rate is far better in the second half of the season.

Leicester have kept five clean sheets in comparison to four for Newcastle.

Both these teams will play again this Gameweek.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: West Ham v Burnley

There have been 15 previous meetings in the Premier League between West Ham and Burnley. West Ham have won 8, Burley have taken all three points in five matches and there have been two draws.

In the last five matches between these sides West Ham have won two, Burnley have won two and there has been one draw. The reverse of this fixture in December finished in a 0-0 draw.

Across these two teams Jarrod Bowen is the top goal scorers with nine. Michail Antonio is a close second with eight and Said Benramha is third with six. Bowen is also top for assists with eight. Once again Antonio is scored with seven and Benrahma is again third with six.

On average this season West Ham create 1.55 chances per match. In comparison Burnley create 1.04.

Defensively both sides have kept seven clean sheets.

Burnley will play again this week as part of their Double Gameweek 33 fixtures.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Liverpool v Man United

There have been 59 meetings in the Premier League between Liverpool and Man United. This is one of the biggest rivalries in the Premier League. United have won 28 games, Liverpool 17 and there have been 14 draws. Liverpool have won the last two meetings between these clubs. The reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season finished 0-5 in Liverpool’s favour.

Across these two teams Mo Salah is the top goal scorer with 20 goals. Teammate Diogo Jota is second with 14 and Cristiano Ronaldo is third with 12. Trent Alexander-Arnold has the most assists this season with 11, Salah and Andy Robertson are second for assists with 10 each.

On average this season Liverpool create 2.73 chances per match, more than the 1.9 that United create on average.

Liverpool have kept a remarkable 18 clean sheets this season. Man United in comparison have kept just seven.

This will be the second fixture in Manchester United’s Double Gameweek.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Everton v Leicester

There have been 30 previous meetings in the Premier League between Leicester and Everton. Everton have won 10 of the matches, Leicester just six and there have been 14 draws.

The reverse of this fixture finished 1-1 back in January. Of the last five Premier League meetings between the sides Everton have won two, Leicester two and there has been the one draw.

Across these two teams Wilf Zaha is top for goals scored with 10. Connor Gallagher is second with eight and Odsonne Edouard third with six. Micheal Olise is top for assists with five, followed by Joachim Anderson and Jordan Ayew who have three each.

On average this season Palace create 1.27 chances per match, more than the 0.8 that Newcastle create on average.

Palace have kept nine clean sheets, in comparison to four for Newcastle.

This is the second of Newcastle’s Double Gameweek fixtures.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Man City v Brighton

There have been nine meetings in the Premier League between these two sides. City have won eight of these matches, whereas Brighton have won just once. City won the reverse of this fixture 1-4 back in October.

Brighton finally broke their losing run in Gameweek 31 with a 0-0 draw against Norwich. City have won three of their last five in the league.

Across these two teams Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are top for goals with 10 each. Jesus is top for assists with seven. Joao Cancelo is second for assists with five, Ilkay Gundogan is third with four.

On average this season Man City create 2.17 chances per match, in comparison to 1.27 for Brighton.

Man City have kept 18 clean sheets in comparison to eight for Brighton.

This is the second fixture in Brighton’s Double Gameweek.

Gameweek 33 fixtures: Burnley v Southampton

There have been 13 meetings in the Premier League between these two sides. Burnley have won five of these matches, whereas Southampton have won four. There have also been four draws. The reverse of this fixture finished 2-2 back in October.
