With Burnley doubling in back-to-back Gameweeks a number of FPL managers are already invested in the Clarets. We assess the best picks from Burnley for managers looking to invest or increases their investment for Double Gameweek 27.

Investment in Burnley is still low when compared to many of the other Premier League teams. Nick Pope is currently Burnley’s most owned FPL asset. He is owned by just 3.3% of the game. New signing Wout Weghorst is a close second with 3.1% ownership.

This is surprising given that Burnley have already doubled in Gameweek 26. Where they still have one fixture to play against Spurs. Burnley’s low levels of ownership does give FPL managers the opportunity to invest in a differential for Gameweek 27.

Pope

In previous season’s Nick Pope has been a very popular FPL pick. However this season 14 goalkeepers are owned by more FPL managers than Pope. Pope is however the fifth highest scoring goalkeeper in the game and at £5.4m is still just cheap enough to use as part of a rotating pair. Pope has made 65 clean sheets so far this season and has kept six clean sheets.

Mee

Ben Mee is Burnley’s second highest scoring player this season having returned two goals for the Cornets. Mee has also registered five clean sheets as well as having had 14 attempts on goal and three big chances. He could be an excellent option especially of fixtures against Crystal Palace and Leicester. At £4.7m he is also easy to bench for the difficult fixtures that follow the double.

Tarkowski

James Tarkowski has the potential to be overlooked for Gameweek 27. Tarkowski missed the first match of Gameweek 26 with illness and it is yet to be seen whether it will be able to play in the second fixture. Tarkowski has three attacking returns so far this season from one goal and two assists. He has also picked up four clean sheets this season.

Weghorst

Since his arrival in the Premier League Weghorst has returned a goal and two assists. Since his arrival in the league midway through Gameweek 22 Weghorst has had nine goal attempts. This is the most of any player across the Burnley team. He has also had a team leading 14 penalty area touches. On top of this Weghorst also has the best expected goals (xG) and expected goal involvements (xGI) in the Burnley team.

Cornet

Maxwell Cornet’s six goals is a team leading total at Burnley over the course of the season. When you compare this to other midfielders under £6.0m only Emile Smith Rowe has more goals than Cornet. The Clarets midfielder looks good value for his £5.9m price tag. However, he did have to be withdrawn against Brighten in the fist fixture Gameweek 26 so FPL managers should be mindful of this before investing.

McNeil

Slightly cheaper than Cornet, Dwight McNeil has created 28 chances this season which is a team leading total. Three of these chances have been classified as big chances. McNeil is top for successful passes in the final third across the Burnley team with 131. His 119 crosses is top across the division for midfielders priced at under £6.0m.

Brownhill

At £4.3m Brownhill is the definition of budget enabling. However, as expected his underlying stats are far lower than teammates Cornet and McNeil. Brownhill has registered a goal and four clean sheets this season. Owning Brownhill could allow managers to afford a Premium forward and therefore could be a good buy. However, the other Burnley midfielders have better stats to suggest that they could return in Gameweek 27.

Burnley’s most expensive FPL asset is Weghorst priced at £6.5m. This makes owning multiple Burnley players easy for FPL managers. The treble up of Weghorst with Cornet and Pope would cost FPL managers just £17.7m. This is significantly cheaper than trebling up on the three most attractive options at most other Premier League sides.

However, do managers want three assets from the Clarets?

Managers are unlikely to want to play three Burnley assets against Chelsea in Gameweek 28 or Man City in Gameweek 31. This makes owning two Burnley assets more attractive than owning three. Although, if managers pair Pope with another playing Goalkeeper he could be an excellent option.

Pope rotates nicely with Watford shot stopper Ben Foster until the end of the season. Owning Pope and Foster together would allow managers to double up on Burnley. it would also allow Pope to be benched during the difficult fixtures in the Burnley run in.

Pairing Pope with Weghorst for the Double Gameweek therefore makes the double up attractive.
