Best picks from Burnley for Double Gameweek 26
Double Gameweeks can make or break an FPL manager’s season. Get the picks right and a huge green arrow follows, get it wrong and it can really harm your overall rank. So who are the best picks for Double Gameweek 26?
Burnley had a difficult start to their Premier League campaign. However with three draws in their last four Premier League matches their season is improving. In fact they could have been considered unlucky not to score against Liverpool in Gameweek 25 where that had eight shots, five of which were on target.
Burnley’s new signing Wout Weghorst would likely have been one of the most transfers in players ahead of the Gameweek 26 deadline already. However, his injury against Liverpool has made FPL managers cautious. Dyche’s comments in today’s press conference will have come as happy news.
We’re expecting him to be OK. He trained just a light training session today but the incredibly professional person that he is, I think he’ll be fine.

We take a look at who the best picks from Burnley are for Gameweek 26, as well as their second double in Gameweek 27.
Best picks from Burnley: Underlying Stats
Burnley have scored just 17 goals this season, only Norwich have returned less than the Clarets. This doesn’t bode hugely attractive for investing in their attacking options. Cornet is their leading goal scorer, with six goals from his 11 starts.
However, since Weghorst’s arrival in Gameweek 22 the underlying stats have improved. Burnley have had 40 attempts on goal. There are six clubs who have had less attempts than them.
Defender James Tarkowski has the best expected goals (xG) for Burnley this season.
With Ashley Westwood top for expected goal involvement (xGI).
These stats look positive when compared to other members of the Burnley squad. However, in comparison to other Premier League sides they are low. In fact as a team over the course of the season Burnley’s xG is the second lowest in the division.
The stats are far more positive when it comes to the case for the defence. Tarkowski’s best xG stats along with some good expected goals conceded (xGC) numbers could make him worthy of FPL investment. Especially ahead of back to back Double Gameweeks. He is likely one of the best picks for FPL managers from Burnley, especially at his £4.9m price tag.
Since Gameweek 22 Burnley have a better xGC than the likes of Spurs, Manchester Untied and Leicester. This also makes goalkeeper Nick Pope a promising option, especially after his heroics in the last of Burnley’s Double Gameweeks.
If Weghorst is fit which now seems likely, he looks the most attractive Burnley option. However, if managers want to play the fixture and double up Weghorst alongside Tarkowski or Pope make the best picks.
Best picks from Burnley: Ownership
Burnley offer FPL managers the opportunity to invest in huge differentials for Gameweek 26. Weghorst has the highest effective ownership (EO) ahead of Gameweek 26 in the top 10k at just 0.75%.
We can break that down even further. Although Burnley’s defensive numbers are improving, owning one of the Clarets defenders is an even bigger differential.
In the top 10K the EO for a Burnley defender is just 0.17%.
It is telling that the highest owned Burnley player is their non playing forward Richardson who is owned by 2.7% of the game. This could be a massive opportunity for players to invest cheaply in players who could play four matches in just two Gameweeks.
Community Chatter
Even though they have low ownership it still feels like Burnley are the talk of the FPL community.
Official FPL have started a conversation about Cornet ahead of the Gameweek 26 deadline.
FPL_T#44 has read the minds of a lot of FPL managers. Doubling up on the Burnley attack could either be a stroke of genius or a disaster!
There’s a lot of positive surrounding Weghorst and how he could be the perfect target man for the Burnley crosses.
