Score Predictions: Gameweek 24

Last modified date

When making FPL decisions many FPL managers mentally predict the outcome of matches

  • Who will win?
  • Will there be a clean sheet in this match?
  • How many goals can I see being scored?
  • How many players do I want to play in this game?

We still have a full schedule of FA cup action this weekend along with the final game of Gameweek 23, however FPL managers already have their thoughts focused on Gameweek 24.

Ahead of the Gameweek 24 deadline on Tuesday we asked our predictions panel for their thoughts on what would happen in the games and what that means on for FPL planning.

Gameweek 23

Last week the panel predicted the outcome correctly 30 times. Five of the seven panelists also correctly predicted that Brighton and Leicester would finish 1-1.

FPL Inzaghi won the week correctly predicting the score in three of the matches as well as predicting the right result in a further three matches.

Leaderboard

To keep track on how our panel are doing we have awarded 3 points for a correctly predicted scoreline and 1 point for a correct outcome but with the wrong scoreline.

FPL Commentary

FPL Shake n Bake

This might be the week where FPL managers can hold a transfer whilst we wait to see how the new signings from the January transfer window settle in.

Of course, the weekends FA Cup games could scupper these plans!

With Everton’s fixture run Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be a great investment with new manager bounce under Lampard, however I’ll also be keeping a close eye on Dele Alli as he looks to restart his career on Merseyside.

FPL Focus

Midweek action always throw up some unexpected results, however I think West Ham will add to Watfords woes even with Roy in charge.

Newcastle’s transfer window will bring alot of positives especially as they have signed so many proven Premier League and FPL assets. Their newly strengthened back line of Trippier, Burn, Lascelles and Targett should provide plenty of opportunity for FPL returns especially against what has been a very poor toffee’s side. I am however expecting an improvement in Everton under Lampard.

I am expecting Crystal Palace to bounce back from their Gameweek 23 result to win in midweek and I would rely on Edouard being on the score sheet.

With Son back in full training he could be a great move for FPL managers this week as I think they will beat Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday.

Arsenal have been away at a camp in Dubaiover the break and this I think will help them to get back to winning ways against what has been a defensively good Wolves side. Maybe consider benching Coady and his defensive team mates for this one.

I also expect Villa to pick off Bielsa’s side with players like Ramsey and Coutinho looking like great investments for managers this week.

FPL Talking Points

Manager’s looking to get a jump on Man United assets ahead of double Gameweek 25 may feel like a fixture away to Burnley in Gameweek 24 looks good enough on paper to provide the entry point. However, given United’s (and especially Ronaldo’s) recent struggles in front of goal combined with a classic Burnley defensive performance last week against Arsenal, I think FPL managers should wait on attacking assets for another week before investing for the Double Gameweek. My prediction, is that it will finish 0-0!
