Fantasy5 FFS Challenge: FPL Marc’s Week 4 Reveal

Last modified date

In mid-November, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pits ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other in Fantasy5. To determine who truly has the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league will take place between Gameweeks 12 and 20.

A small prize is up for grabs but, more importantly, so is bragging rights. The challenge requires picking a player from each of the week’s five selected matches who you think will exceed their assigned ‘points target’ (par score). The more players that do so, the better.

Get yourself involved here at Fantasy5 for a chance to win a potential £10,000 prize. It is free and very simple to play, following the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points. Full terms and conditions are here.

For each round, Fantasy Football Community will have an in-depth team reveal from one participant.

Week 4: FPL Marc

  • Leeds v Brentford
  • Man United v Crystal Palace
  • Tottenham v Norwich
  • Aston Villa v Leicester
  • Everton v Arsenal

I am now the only player amongst the ten without a correct call so far and therefore – by definition – the worst manager to take advice from. However, I would like to say that there’s been bad luck, where many of my picks are indeed producing but just 0.5 short of their target. For example, I picked Andrew Robertson ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Everton. He assisted twice from defence, yet missed out because they conceded an ultimately meaningless goal. I selected James Maddison and he scored again, yet failed by half a point.

This time, all my picks have a 6.5 target. Although Leeds’ defence tends to be better since Diego Llorente returned, I back Ivan Toney to deliver the goods for Brentford. And while all the Old Trafford attention will be on Ralf Rangnick taking his place in the home dugout, I believe that Crystal Palace will not only score past a poor Man United defence but they have a chance of adding to their shock win at rivals Man City in late October, especially considering Palace have grabbed all three points on their last two trips to Old Trafford. Therefore, to me, Conor Gallagher has a generous points target.

I definitely want to pick a Tottenham asset for their hosting of Norwich, although Son Heung-min (11.5) and Sergio Reguilon (8.5) have been boosted too high as a consequence of their scores against Brentford on Thursday night. I’d rather go with the other wing-back, Emerson Royal.

Ollie Watkins has three goals from five matches and faces a Leicester defence which has conceded the most shots on target throughout all 20 teams. The Foxes have conceded at least two goals in eight of their last ten league games, so I have full confidence on Watkins netting here although he’d need a second goal involvement to exceed his target. As for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it’s purely gut instinct. He hasn’t scored for five matches and I think it’s his turn. Backing any striker against Everton right now is wise.

Good luck everyone!
