FPL Community Reactions to Gameweek 11 (Saturday)
Joao Cancelo delivered a trio of assists against Club Brugge in midweek, yet some FPL managers opted to bench the full-back against out-of-sorts Man United. Cancelo proceeded to assist twice in the Manchester derby.
Man City decided to keep the score at 2-0, with Cancelo bringing in 14 points. The two outstanding premium defenders right now are both he and Reece James, whose incredible 21-point haul at Newcastle led to over 950,000 transfers heading into Gameweek 11. Things started well for his ownership, supplying a cross for Kai Havertz to head home.
Chelsea looked in cruise control but let Burnley equalise. Despite a yellow card and loss of clean sheet, James still grabbed three bonus points and a total tally of seven.
Only three 3pm matches took place on Saturday, with Crystal Palace beating Wolves 2-0 thanks to Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher. Many members of the FPL community have placed faith in Brentford assets Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo, having initially looked bright and with a favourable run of games against Burnley (a), Norwich (H) and Newcastle (a).
Two-thirds through, the Bees have lost both times and it will concern managers that the newly-promoted side have seemingly lost their way. A disallowed second half goal gave brief hope but, ultimately, Toney and Mbeumo both blanked again.
The evening match saw Brighton take the lead against Newcastle thanks to a Leandro Trossard penalty. Things looked comfortable at half-time, until the roles completely reversed in the second half. The Magpies equalised, before heavily-selected goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off in injury time for fouling Callum Wilson.

Sanchez will be suspended for Brighton’s trip to Aston Villa. And then some final late night drama came via Norwich – hours after winning their first match of the season, manager Daniel Farke has been sacked.
